As part of its celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Dying Light franchise, developer Techland unveiled an ambitious roadmap for 2025. The roadmap teases new updates coming to Dying Light 2: Stay Human, as well as the upcoming release of Dying Light: The Beast.

Despite their shared connections leading to an almost intense rivalry between Dying Light and Dead Island, Dying Light has managed to distinguish itself by focusing on its sense of parkour-heavy exploration and the intense tone of its zombie-filled setting. Now, Techland is growing the series further with a new spin-off called Dying Light: The Beast. Set for release in 2025, The Beast could send the series in fresh directions that grow its audience while exciting existing fans.

That in mind, Techland signaled confidence in Dying Light as a franchise by releasing an ambitious content roadmap for the franchise going into 2025. The roadmap outlines planned updates and events for Dying Light 2: Stay Human like the returning Dying Light 2 Winter Tales event. It also situates the Summer 2025 release of Dying Light: The Beast as part of Techland's celebration of the series' 10th anniversary this year.

Dying Light 2025 Roadmap Promotes New Dying Light 2 Events And Dying Light: The Beast Launch

The first things coming to Dying Light's 2025 roadmap involve events and special promotions in Dying Light 2 for the 10th Anniversary celebration. These include limited-time special modes like Hypermode and Double XP, Low Gravity, and the viral rush, as well as giveaways via the Dying Light 2 Pilgrim Outpost hub through the month of February 2025, culminating in the permanent release of the Dying Light 2 Tower Raid mode and a Light Up The Night stream on February 19, 2025.

While Dying Light: The Beast is set for a Summer 2025 release window, Dying Light 2 will see two major updates for Spring and Fall 2025 and three seasonal events in 2025. The seasonal events will correspond with Summer, Halloween, and a return of the Winter Tales event. Smaller updates will include improvements to graphics, performance, co-op, and matchmaking, new Tower Raid characters, free outfits and gear, support for community maps, and new weapons (including a new weapon class). The roadmap doesn't specify when these updates will be launched, but players can expect to see them announced as the year goes on.

Interest in the Dying Light franchise is still going strong, given that even two years after its release, Dying Light 2 was one of PS Plus' most popular games the month of its launch on the service. In light of that, it makes sense that Techland feels confident leaning into further updates for the game, on top of the release of Dying Light: The Beast. With luck, further success will make Dying Light another mainstay of the next decade, as well.
