Moving around in Dying Light: The Beast might not be as easy as players think at first, since there are a lot of things to consider before being able to explore the entirety of Castor Wood. Among them are various travel methods and their respective mechanics. The Dying Light series has always had a Fast Travel Method, but that might be about to change for good.

In this guide, players will learn all about all available travel methods in Dying Light: The Beast. From the unwritten rules of Parkour and traversal movement, to finding a vehicle and refueling. Let's take a look at how to explore Castor Woods in its entirety.

All Available Travel Methods in Dying Light: The Beast

Dying Light The Beast Third Person Driving

For those trying to figure out a way to Fast Travel Between POIs and Safe Zones in Dying Light: The Beast, there's bad news: This method has been disabled by the devs, to encourage exploration (be it by vehicle or on foot) and to challenge players to feel a little bit more the thrill of survival in the post-apocalyptic wilderness of Castor Woods.

But luckily, there are other travel methods available, among them, the vehicles players can drive around, as long as they have fuel for them. Ranger Trucks are spread across the Castor Woods Map, easily identifiable by their icons in the map that pop up when players approach them. Every vehicle, be it from the Park Rangers, the Bandits, or the Baron's faction, comes with a certain amount of fuel. It doesn't last long at first, but as players unlock Efficient Driving (a skill from the Survival Branch), fuel will last longer.

They can also drop outside the vehicle and refuel it themselves, but this means being exposed to the infected that roam the area, and are most likely attracted to the sound of driving a 4x4 vehicle through the woods. Trucks also have a certain durability, so players need to be extremely careful when driving around so that their truck doesn't catch fire and explode. Lastly, there is a Racing Mini-Game/Secondary Quest named The Fast and Fortunate, and players should complete it to familiarize themselves with how to drive through mud, rain, rough mountain slopes, and zombie-infested streets.

Parkour is one of the main travel methods in Dying Light The Beast

Though Fast Travel is not available, players can also do Parkour around to move increasingly faster, as they gain 'Momentum.' This is one of the 'unwritten rules' of Dying Light: The Beast: As the character moves and runs around, executing Parkour Moves, and falling with Active Landing unlocked (and later with the Afterboost skill), they will gain speed. If they are hit or stumble with an obstacle, this speed gets reduced to 'zero' and or they lose momentum, depending on how hard the interruption of the movement was. A grasp from a Bitter attempting to grab them might reduce it slightly, but failing to dodge an attack by a Viral might slow them down entirely.

Traveling on foot becomes faster after unlocking the Dash and Afterboost Agility Skills, as well as the Furious Charge Beast Skill.

On the other hand, when players have their Beast Mode activated, they gain significant speed. Learning to control the Beast within Kyle Crane is a good way to move faster around Castor Woods, but be careful: The Beast Timer is limited, so use this travel method wisely and in extreme cases. Once players unlock the Grappling Hook, they will also be able to climb faster, which decreases the amount of time it takes to move from one point of interest to another.
