Dying Light: The Beast has unveiled Bober the Beaver, the mascot of Castor Woods, who offers more glimpses into the eerie universe of the upcoming game. While the main setting for Dying Light: The Beast has already been revealed, this new character helps set the tone for players who will soon explore it.

As previously explained by the devs, Dying Light: The Beast's map is hand-crafted, meaning the team at Techland has put significant time and effort into creating an immersive world. With that in mind, fans have been eagerly waiting for the developer to share more of the series' new rural environment.

Dying Light: The Beast Will Be Free for Some Gamers

Developer Techland shares good news for Dying Light fans, as it reveals that The Beast will be free for certain gamers when it releases in August.

In a newly released trailer, Dying Light: The Beast introduced Bober the Beaver, a mascot who invites viewers to visit the tourist valley of Castor Woods. While sharing some background on Castor Woods' atmosphere and scenery, Bober also showcases footage of key locations and details in Dying Light: The Beast, presented in both their beautiful pre-apocalypse state and their post-apocalypse, zombie-infested condition. Although Bober the Beaver promises to be in town to make sure visitors have the best trip possible, it remains unclear whether the mascot will play any role in the game.

Bober the Beaver Seemingly Reveals More Details About Castor Woods

Although the new trailer is styled as a spooky pre-apocalypse commercial, it seemingly reveals several aspects of Castor Woods' current condition. For instance, Bober the Beaver notes that the valley features vast outlooks, possibly hinting at large explorable areas in and around the main location. He also points to hidden paths throughout Castor Woods, seemingly suggesting that players will have plenty of secrets to uncover in Techland's upcoming survival horror.

Bober also mentions that the weather in Castor Woods has "character," which could be a nod to Dying Light's signature day-and-night gameplay, already confirmed to return in the upcoming installment. What does seem certain is that Dying Light: The Beast's new rural setting has plenty to offer, or, as Bober the Beaver puts it in the video, there is so much to discover.

For those wondering why a beaver is the valley's mascot, Castor is the genus of beavers, suggesting the creature likely has some connection to the valley's history. It remains to be seen whether Bober the Beaver will appear in more trailers leading up to Dying Light: The Beast's release on August 22. Fans are also eagerly awaiting the new gameplay trailer, which is teased at the end of Bober the Beaver's video.
