Despite its previous delay, Dying Light: The Beast developer Techland has decided to move its release date forward, albeit only by one day. The next entry in the Dying Light series was initially set to launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on August 22, but was later delayed to September 19. Now, to celebrate 1 million pre-orders, Techland has confirmed that The Beast will be released a whole day earlier, on September 18.

The back of Kyle in Dying Light The Beast

Although The Beast isn't technically Dying Light 3, Techland is treating it as such, which is likely why there's so much hype and anticipation surrounding the title. When The Best War Games spoke to the Techland team earlier this year, the developers wanted to emphasize that they "didn’t pull any punches when working on [Dying Light: The Beast]." Techland said it was "going big" with the game's cutscenes, not holding back on resources with new features, and even pushing the tech side of things, noting that it's extremely proud of the title's graphics.

Dying Light has a busy few months ahead, and it might have just kicked off a 'Hot Zombie Summer' for the rest of the gaming industry.

Dying Light: The Beast Will Now Launch September 18

Just a few weeks before its release, Techland announced that it had delayed Dying Light: The Beast from its original release date of August 22 to September 19. Now, exactly one week before the game was set to launch, the developer has announced that it will be releasing the title sooner than expected. Dying Light: The Beast will now officially launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on September 18, a whole day earlier than planned. In a new post on Twitter, Techland says it was to celebrate more than 1 million pre-orders. The studio also shared the exact launch times for The Beast, which can be found below.

In a new press release, Techland also said it has another surprise for those who pre-order before launch. The studio says that players will receive an "exclusive new reward" for pre-ordering Dying Light: The Beast, but has yet to reveal exactly what the reward will be, as further details will be shared next week. Mysterious reward aside, players who pre-order the title before launch will receive the "Hero of Harran" bundle, which includes the Ultimate Survivor Outfit, Harran Combat Knife, The Follower Crossbow, In Jade's Memory Pistol, and Castor Woods Patrol Vehicle.

While Dying Light: The Beast will be a full-fledged AAA title, it initially began as a DLC for Dying Light 2: Stay Human. To ensure those who purchased the Ultimate Edition of the sequel still receive the content they were promised, all owners of the now delisted Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition will receive The Beast at no additional cost. According to Techland, the game will automatically appear in players' libraries upon its release next week. Those who own the Dying Light 2 Ultimate Edition will also receive the Hero of Harran pre-order bonus for free.
