Dying Light: The Beast is the sequel to the acclaimed Dying Light: The Following DLC, and players will once more incarnate Kyle Crane as the main protagonist, trying to look for answers (and revenge) in a whole new map to explore, named Castor Woods. These forestry lands are unlike anything players have experienced so far in any game made by Techland, and the size of this sandbox might be intimidating at first glance.
A few fans might be wondering how long it would take to beat the Main Story, and how long it could take to explore Castor Woods in all its extension, getting all the collectibles and Legendary Weapons spread around the grid. This guide will shed some light on the duration of the main story and how many gameplay hours players need to invest (approximately) to complete the game at its fullest, earning all its achievements/trophies.
Dying Light: The Beast Director Shares More About the Game’s World
With just about a month left until the game's release, Dying Light: The Beast's director talks about what players can expect from the game's world.
How Long is Dying Light: The Beast's Main Story?
Depending on the level of difficulty players choose, and the amount of time players invest in crafting and collecting loot, Dying Light: The Beast's main story can be completed in approximately 20 Hours (around 30 in Survival Difficulty, and 45 in Brutal). Now to complete the game at 100%, players will need to invest at least 20 to 30 hours more, looking around for collectibles like Murals, Castor Statues, and Sigils.
There are also a fair number of Sub-Quests in Dying Light: The Beast, and some of them have different outcomes depending on players' choices. So, it has a fair amount of replay value, and if players want to enjoy the story in a different level of difficulty, or perhaps take other choices and see which rewards (or consequences) their decisions end up giving them, then that's fair game as well.
How Big is Castor Woods Map in Dying Light: The Beast?
Castor Woods' map is a little bit bigger than the Slums of the original Dying Light, but its characteristics are absolutely opposite to those run-down buildings and shacks players saw in Harran. This map has a special, more 'wild' design. The open fields, the woods, the rivers, creeks, mountains, and ridges all invite exploration. Be careful, though, because when the night falls (at 7 PM), ferocious infected start roaming around the entire map, and their sensitivity has been greatly enhanced.
Now, Volatiles can hear players and see the blink of their flashlights at higher distances. Turning off their flashlights, hiding in bushes, or crouching might not be enough to avoid these lethal creatures, and when they spot Kyle in an open field, it's Chase time. Surviving the night in Dying Light: The Beast will be more challenging than ever, and unlocking all the Safe Spots around Castor Woods is a must-do to avoid a horrible death.
And that's one of the biggest changes in Dying Light: The Beast: a much more open-world-like scenario with tons of grass, nature, and of course, vicious zombies ready to bite players at the slightest chance. The story might be a little bit shorter than in previous games, but it sure is a thrilling adventure with a decent amount of challenge.
