Summary
- EA announces two game shutdowns: Super Mega Baseball 2 on July 24 and Disney Sorcerer's Arena on July 31.
- Meanwhile, three Battlefield are being delisted on July 31 for PS3 and Xbox 360.
- Online multiplayer services for delisted Battlefield games will remain active until November 7.
Fans of EA-published games should note that two of the company's titles will be ceasing operations later in July. As is the case with many other major game publishers, EA occasionally finds itself shutting down older games, ceasing their online functionality, and oftentimes delisting them in the process.
Whereas some game delistings and shutdowns come seemingly out of nowhere, EA keeps fans informed. EA has a running list of games it plans on shutting down and delisting from digital storefronts, giving fans the opportunity to check these titles out before they're gone. Multiple EA games have already been shut down this year, and two more are on the chopping block for July 2024.
Super Mega Baseball 3 Getting New Game Modes
Super Mega Baseball 3 announces new modes coming next week, including one that will let players create custom leagues with cross-play support.
First up is Super Mega Baseball 2, which is shutting down on July 24. Seven days later, on July 31, Disney Sorcerer's Arena is shutting down. Super Mega Baseball 2 is a well-received, arcade baseball game, whereas Disney Sorcerer's Arena is a mobile release. Super Mega Baseball 2 will still have offline functionality available, so anyone interested in the game may want to pick it up while they still can. It's also worth mentioning that EA owns Metalhead Software, the studio behind the Super Mega Baseball franchise, so future installments in the series are a virtual guarantee.
EA Games Shutting Down 2024
- Super Mega Baseball 2 - July 24
- Disney Sorcerer's Arena - July 31
- NHL 20 - September 16
- FIFA 22 - November 4
- Battlefield 3 - November 7
- Battlefield 4 - November 7
- Battlefield: Hardline - November 7
While Super Mega Baseball 2 and Disney Sorcerer's Arena are the only two EA games that are shutting down in July, three other games are being delisted this month. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, and Battlefield: Hardline are all being delisted on July 31, making that day the last day that fans can purchase the games digitally. PS4 and Xbox One versions of Battlefield 4 and Hardline will still be available, but Battlefield 3 will be completely gone from digital storefronts on consoles.
The good news when it comes to the Battlefield games that are being shut down is that they will at least remain playable for a while. The online multiplayer services for the Battlefield games will remain active until November 7, at which point they will cease to function.
EA fans will also want to keep an eye on a couple of other dates. NHL 20 is shutting down on September 16, and FIFA 22 is shutting down on November 4. It's possible that other EA games will be added to the shutdown and delisting list, but they have yet to be revealed.
