EA will be shutting down at least three games in January 2026. EA keeps a running list of the games it is shutting down, giving fans one last chance to enjoy the online functionality of the games before it ceases to exist. Fans of EA's games may be depressed by how many games the publisher shuts down every year, but at least they are given advanced notice.

In 2025, EA shut down a total of 23 games, ranging from some of the company's popular mobile titles like The Simpsons: Tapped Out to its big sports games like Madden NFL and FIFA. EA will continue to shut down the online servers for its games in 2026, with January featuring at least three games on the chopping block.

A newly-formed petition calls for EA to provide alternative ways for Anthem fans to continue playing the game after its scheduled server shutdown.

It's entirely possible even more EA titles will be shut down in January 2026, but for now, fans only have to worry about three games in particular. On January 12, EA will shut down BioWare's Anthem, and then on January 24, The Sims Mobile servers will be shuttered. Then, on January 30, NBA Live 19 will shut down. EA has also confirmed that Real Racing 3 will be shut down on March 19, so fans of that popular mobile racer will want to keep that in mind as well.

List of EA Games Shutting Down in 2026

  • Anthem - January 12
  • The Sims Mobile - January 24
  • NBA Live 19 - January 30
  • Real Racing 3 - March 19

Anthem may have been a failed live-service experiment on the part of EA, but the game featured fun flying mechanics at the very least, and it was developed by BioWare, one of the most celebrated studios in the industry. To see a BioWare game effectively shut down and cease to exist is sad, even if Anthem didn't have the player count to justify keeping its servers online. Unfortunately, there is no offline mode for Anthem, meaning the game will no longer exist come January 12.

Luckily, The Sims Mobile will remain playable to those that have it downloaded. The problem is that if you don't already have The Sims Mobile downloaded, you're out of luck. EA ended support for The Sims Mobile in 2024, and it delisted the game in October 2025 ahead of its January 24 shutdown.

NBA Live 19, meanwhile, is the last basketball game published by EA for consoles. It earned mixed reviews, like the other NBA Live games, but it's still sad to see it go. EA has not announced any plans to make a new NBA basketball game, but it is making a college basketball game. Whether EA's college basketball game is able to avoid the same issues as NBA Live 19 and live longer remains to be seen, but it will definitely be interesting to see how it plays out.

Anthem, The Sims Mobile, and NBA Live 19 are the three EA games shutting down in January 2026, but there's one more game confirmed to be shutting down next year: Real Racing 3. Real Racing 3 was first released all the way back in 2013 and has attracted a loyal fanbase. Like The Sims Mobile, Real Racing 3 has been delisted ahead of its shutdown, but those that already have the game downloaded can still play it until the servers are shuttered on March 19.
