An Elden Ring player managed to bring down a boss while AFK. This is a nearly impossible feat given the brutal and unforgiving combative nature of Elden Ring.
RPG enthusiasts, veterans, and newcomers alike are quite familiar with the aggressive action in Soulslikes. Soulslike boss fights are notorious for repeatedly testing players to their limits, especially in Elden Ring. From the epic confrontation between Starscourge Radahn to the agonizing brawl with Malenia, Blade of Miquella, the Lands Between is hellbent on producing the "YOU DIED" screen over and over again. A strike or two upon the player can lead to immediate death, which is why this player's experience with a contactless fight with a boss is quite surprising.
While remaining idle near a Site of Grace, u/Luyoka uploaded a couple of screenshots in Elden Ring where they mysteriously received an item drop after the death of an enemy. "I was idle near the grace for 1h and came back to this," the Redditor says with a caption, accompanied by the two screen captures. One of which is the aforementioned item drop, which is the Ash of War: Poison Moth Flight. The other features the item's description, detailing its acquisition from a fallen Night's Cavalry in Caelid.
The player's post was quickly met with comments regarding the nature of the boss's fate. Some speculate that the enemy's AI bugged out, causing them to fall to their death. Others claim that other enemies from the Lands Between came toe-to-toe with the Night's Cavalry. In either case, the player stayed near a Site of Grace, unaware of the boss and their impending doom. There's no telling what actually happened to the Night's Cavalry. The only aspect that u/Luyoka was able to ascertain was the Ash of War that suddenly was given to them, though they admit they enjoy fighting the Night's Cavalry in the game.
Ever since its February 25, 2022 release, Elden Ring players are still finding unique ways to approach the gameplay. Given the intense combat that FromSoftware continually offers, defeating a boss in a Soulslike game with zero damage taken is almost unheard of. Moreover, it's wild to consider the possibility of fighting a boss without even swinging a hit or two. Of course, assembling heavy builds, amassing large quantities of items, and cheesing methods can all help with a boss fight. However, when all things considered, to hear of a strange incident such as the one with u/Luyoka is one in a million.
Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
