However, as they approach the endgame bosses of Elden Ring, they are likely to find that many of their favorite spells become useless, with foes like the 
Elden Beast having an incredible resistance to such things. Even with resistances, these spells are the most reliable against all bosses in Elden Ring without the worry of them negating the majority of the damage.
8 Night Comet
A Spell Bosses Can't Dodge
- Requires 38 Intelligence to cast.
- It can be found in a chest in the central section of Sellia, Town of Sorcery.
Night Comet may at first look like a simple spell for players to use, but they'll be surprised to see how useful it is against the various bosses of Elden Ring. One of the biggest issues with using magic in this FromSoftware title is that the enemies will see the attacks ahead of time and easily dodge out of the way.
Thankfully, spells like Night Comet are completely hidden from the AI, allowing the hit of magic to hurt them without issues. While this may cost more than the usual comet, it's perfect for those enemies that simply never stay still.
7 Ekzykes's Decay
Unavoidable Scarlet Rot
- Requires 23 Faith and 15 Arcane to cast.
- It can be purchased from the Dragon Communion Altar at the Cathedral of Dragon Communion after defeating Ekzykes.
Dragon Incantations are some of the strongest spells in the game, but not all of them are great to use against the bosses of Elden Ring. 
Ekzykes's Decay is one of few that is perfect for a variety of situations as it creates a blanket of Scarlet Rot mist ahead of it that damages everything within it.
The initial damage caused by Scarlet Rot is incredible, even to bosses that have a slight resistance to it. Not to mention how lethal the damage will also be to bosses that can contract Scarlet Rot. While expensive to use and a challenge to pull off, players should still consider using it.
6 Comet Azur
Destroys Slow Bosses
- Requires 60 Intelligence to cast.
- Players acquire this spell from Primeval Sorcerer Azur in the Hermit Village in Mt. Gelmir.
Comet Azur is one of the few legendary sorceries that all casters will want to get their hands on in Elden Ring. While it may do purely magic damage, this doesn't stop Comet Azure from being a sorcery that deals an immense amount of damage to the bosses ahead of them.
Elden Ring: All The Known Elden Lords
The mantle of Elden Lord is the player's to claim in Elden Ring, but they won't be the first ruler of the Lands Between.
As long as the player can perfectly aim the beam of blue light toward the boss that is attacking them, this incredible primeval sorcery will strip away the boss's health bar rapidly. Although it may be quite an expensive spell to cast, it's incredibly valuable for the majority of boss battles.
5 Lightning Spear
Immense Damage Quickly

- It can be purchased from Brother Corhyn or Miriel, Pastor of Vows, after giving them the Dragon Cult Prayerbook which is dropped by a Leyendell Knight near the Artist's Shack.
Sorceries aren't the only spells available to the player, as incantations are another way for players to deal damage to bosses while using magic. These spells predominantly use Faith to increase the amount of damage done by them, with one of the best of the available options being 
Lightning Spear.
This incantation deals lightning damage to a foe, making it a great choice to use against knight foes, though it's also a great option for any other boss in the game, as it allows players to deal a lot of damage quickly. Charging the spell increases the damage to each lightning spear thrown, though even with regular damage, it's a great way to attack from a distance.
4 Glintstone Nails
Hits Evasive Enemies Accurately

- It can be purchased from Count Ymir after completing the first step of his questline.
With the release of the Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, players have an assortment of new spells to experiment with against bosses. 
Glintstone Nails is one of the greatest options from the DLC, as it's a perfect choice for any player that is struggling to hit an evasive boss.
Unlike the regular Glintstone Pebble, the shot between casting the spell and hitting the opponent is much shorter, with the Glintstone Nails then also shooting multiple of this deadly magic. Even without using charms or icons to improve its damage, Glintstone Nails is guaranteed to hit.
3 Glintstone Pebble
Cheap And Reliable
- Requires 10 Intelligence to cast.
- A starting spell for the Astrologer, otherwise it can be purchased from a variety of merchants across Elden Ring.
While Glintstone Nails may be arguably more powerful than 
Glintstone Pebble, this early-game spell is still a sorcery that players are likely to use for the entirety of their run of Elden Ring.
Elden Ring Shadow Of The Erdtree: New Weapons You Should Upgrade
Shadow of the Erdtree has brought many new weapons to Elden Ring, and these are the best ones for the Tarnished to upgrade first.
With a cheap cost and a simple amount of damage, players can reliably shoot the boss they are hoping to defeat from a distance, even if the boss they are encountering has a slight resistance to magic damage. Players will require a large amount of FP if they wish to keep firing only this spell, but it's still reliable.
2 Ranni's Dark Moon
Debuffs And Damages Enemies

- It is found in a chest at the top of the tower in Chelona's Rise.
As mentioned, many of the late-game bosses of Elden Ring have some sort of immunity or resistance to magic damage. Therefore, this means many of the spells players have relied on won't do as much damage to them.
Thankfully, spells like 
Ranni's Dark Moon are perfect for these sorts of situations. Bosses that are hit by Ranni's Dark Moon don't only take magic damage but also Frostbite buildup, and it also reduces magic negation by 10% for one minute. If the boss is also frostbitten, this magic negation is reduced further.
1 Rock Sling
Perfect For Any Foe
- Requires 19 Intelligence to cast.
- Found in a chest in the underground cellar of the Street of Sages Ruins.
Out of all the spells available in Elden Ring, one of the best that players should use, no matter which boss they encounter, is the 
Rock Sling spell. This Gravity Sorcery allows the player to throw chunks of meteors at their opponent to deal physical damage.
This is perfect for any sorcery build, as it gives the player a way of harming any opponent, no matter the resistances they have in place. Not to mention that with enough successful hits from Rock Sling, a boss's poise can be broken, opening them up to a critical attack with a melee weapon.
