8 Astel
The Freak From Space
Like Bloodborne, Elden Ring spends a long time holding its cards close to its chest about the cosmic reality of The Lands Between. That all changes when Astel appears, a freakish, scary, and oddly beautiful alien creature made of planets and stars. It's a wild departure from the pre-existing aesthetic and an intriguing addition to the lore.
That's because Elden Ring isn't just about what's on the ground, but in the cosmic realm too. Astel is one of the most visually distinct bosses in the entire game, and though it doesn't have much personality, it is so visually stunning that it'd be a shame to miss it.
7 Mohg
The Lord of Blood
Some characters in Elden Ring are deliciously evil, and Mohg is one of them. One of the twin sons of Marika forced into obscurity due to an omen (a bestial horned creature), Mohg turned to the Formless Mother, and Outer God of blood, to find his way to acceptance and power.
In the original game, he is revealed to be Miquella's kidnapper, but in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, it turns out that Miquella controls Mohg the entire time, making him a far more tragic figure. What was Mohg really like before Miquella, and could he have been redeemed?
6 Messmer
The Damned Crusader
FromSoftware have a special knack for cultivating tragic characters who try to do the right thing, and fall into evil and despair on their path. Messmer, a son of Marika, was sent to the lands of the Scadutree to purge the Hornsent, but he was doomed to remain there forever, unacknowledged by his mother or history.
Now, Messmer sits alone in his fortress, hating his mother for abandoning him, and doubting the validity of his crusade. He is a doomed son who has no life and remains a mysterious character even after defeat. Despite his clearly evil acts, it's hard not to feel sorry for him, the exact kind of complex character that thrives on screen.
5 Morgott
The Lord Of Gold
In Elden Ring, some people are born with horns and bestial forms, a reminder of the primordial Crucible, but in the age of the Golden Order, these "Omen" are discriminated against and outright hated by normal people. Often, Omen are simply cast into the sewers to be forgotten or hunted down, forcing many to live a double life.
Ironically, Morgott, a son of Marika, is the most devout follower of the very religion that hates him. He alone guards the Erdtree when his siblings have fled despite hating himself for being what his God despises. He's a cruel but tragic self-loathing character who makes for a great central character study.
4 Godrick
The Grafted
Some characters need to be seen on screen for their complex characters or interesting stories, but some need to be put on screen for the sheer visual madness of their design. Godrick is maybe the best example of this in all of Elden Ring.
An off-shoot branch of the Golden Lineage, Godrick became obsessed with grafting other people onto himself, including a dragon, to embody the power of Godfrey. He is an insane shambling horrific madman who is delightfully evil, making for a terrifying on-screen villain.
3 Radahn
The Lord of War
Of the many children of Marika, Radahn may be the most tragic of all. Admiring both Godfrey and Radagon, Radahn committed himself to the art of war, and even learned gravity magic so his massive form wouldn't crush his beloved donkey. In lore, he was a noble and just man.

Starscourge Radahn is one of Elden Ring's central figures. It stands to reason that many players may not know these facts about the character.
That was until he fought with Malenia and became infected with Scarlet Rot. Now, he wanders the wastes of Caelid like a zombie, devouring and slaying all who come in his path. It's a tragic end to a noble warrior, and one that would fit well as an encounter in the film.
2 Malenia
The Blade Of Miquella
For a company that's defined by its incredible boss fights, it's pretty incredible that FromSoftware is still able to craft some truly iconic boss encounters, none more so in Elden Ring than Malenia, the Blade of Miquella. She is the twin sister of Miquella and, like him, cursed from birth, selected by the Rot God to become its champion and constantly be in a state of decay.
Yet, despite her affliction and losing limbs, Malenia is one of the most fearsome warriors in all of The Lands Between, endlessly devoted to her brother, and containing the Rot within herself so that it won't be unleashed on anyone else. She's a prototypical FromSoftware tragic boss full of intricate detail that needs to be on screen.
1 Marika/Radagon
The Hybrid Lord
One of the strangest mysteries in Elden Ring is that Radagon and Marika are not two separate people, but two halves of the same being. How exactly this works remains a mystery to this day, but clearly there's a lot going on with Marika's power, and a seeming split personality.
This duality and power of Marika and Radagon are essential to the current state of The Lands Between, and would be incredibly important to understanding the state of the world in the film. A film could even elaborate more on Marika/Radagon's hybrid form and their evil acts, making them a great choice for a central character in a film.
