  • Panda Studio brings Elden Ring's Dark Moon Greatsword and Black Blade to life, ultimately shared by a fan.
  • Fans appreciate the medieval, gothic aesthetic of FromSoftware's action RPG, inspiring stunning replicas and DLC exploration.
  • While Panda Studio's replicas may not match the in-game scale, they impress with texture and detail, capturing the essence of Elden Ring.

Every Elden Ring player has at least thought about wielding their own Greatsword in the real world, and Panda Studio has made this dream a reality by replicating the Dark Moon Greatsword and Black Blade in exquisite detail. They’re an ideal gift for dark fantasy enthusiasts and the perfect trophy for Elden Ring completionists.

FromSoftware implemented a medieval, gothic style into the action RPG’s design, and it’s an aesthetic that gamers are keen to incorporate within other franchises, including an Elder Scrolls player’s Dark Moon recreation in Skyrim with jaw-dropping stats. The Elden Ring community also indulged the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC in June, which offered more punishing boss battles and rich lore to fill in the blanks of the base game.

Elden Ring May Be the Limit for FromSoftware

The director of Elden Ring comments on future projects for FromSoftware.

Posted on the Elden Ring subreddit, the Dark Moon Greatsword and Black Blade replicas from Panda Studio were shared with the community by a user named Pavelzm. Currently available for pre-order via the Bucket and Shovel website, Maliketh’s Black Blade reaches 147cm in height and will ship sometime in Q4 for the price of $160, while the Dark Moon Greatsword is in stock now and stretches to 150cm, costing $583. Both replicas are made from resin and come with sleek backplanes, meaning fans can hang their swords on the wall or display them on the floor.

Elden Ring's Dark Moon Greatsword and Black Blade Replicas Impress Fans

To gain the Black Blade, Elden Ring’s Maliketh boss must be defeated before players can rest the hefty weapon on their Tarnished’s shoulder, and fans think Panda Studio’s replica is much smaller in scale. In the game, the Black Blade is closer to 200cm long, surpassing the replica’s 150cm scale, which makes it look smaller than the Greatsword in real life. This inaccuracy provoked fans to call out the studio’s advertised 1/1 ratio replicas, but other players pointed out that the sword's size changes depending on which character wields it.

On the other hand, praise was given to the texture and markings on the replicas’ blades. Previously, one Elden Ring player noted an incredible Greatsword detail when viewing the weapon's design through a ghost, and fans think the moonlight effect captured on the Greatsword’s replica is just as impressive.

Known to be a recurring, staple weapon in FromSoftware games, Elden Ring’s Dark Moon Greatsword has several builds for players to experiment with. After gifting Ranni the Dark Moon Ring, the Greatsword is found below the Cathedral of Manus Celes and can be upgraded into a formidable weapon using Somber Smithing Stones. In comparison, Maliketh’s Black Blade is a Colossal Sword effective at dealing holy-based damage and resembles the size of Final Fantasy’s Buster Sword in-game.
