Summary
- Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring is set for a June 21 release with official Bandai Namco countdown calendar.
- Fans eagerly anticipate new bosses and regions to explore in Elden Ring's major expansion.
Elden Ring fans now have mere weeks until the release of the highly-anticipated Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is set to come, and publisher Bandai Namco has provided them with an official calendar to help count down the days. The new Elden Ring expansion is set to release on June 21, making it the first major release from developer FromSoftware since the game's launch in 2022.
FromSoftware's major break into the open world format, Elden Ring was a massive hit with fans when it released in 2022, offering the same methodical combat and intensely difficult bosses fans have come to expect from the company. Though it departs from the usual staples of FromSoftware's Dark Souls franchise in some ways, the core of that franchise is still very present, making the game one of the developer's most expansive and successful titles to date.
How Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Will Use Elden Ring's Most Unique Feature
While other FromSoftware DLC expansions are masterpieces in their own right, Elden Ring's has one major advantage over them.
Now, leading up to the release of Shadow of the Erdtree, publisher Bandai Namco posted an official calendar for the month of June on Twitter, counting down the days until the expansion hits storefronts. The calendar shows off key promotional art for the Elden Ring DLC complete with every June holiday listed on the proper days and even indications for phases of the moon, with the expansion's launch day being a full moon.
Elden Ring's First DLC is a Big Deal for Fans
Excitement is undoubtedly running high in the community, as many fans stated plans to take the day off from work to play the DLC , with others asking about when owners of the game's collector's edition will get access to the content. Shadow of the Erdtree will bring several new bosses and entirely new regions for players to explore and is set to be the game's only major expansion as FromSoftware ties any loose ends to move on to new projects.
Bandai Namco also offers a collector's edition of the DLC as a standalone purchase for those who already own the base game, which includes an official statue of the expansion's main villain, Messmer the Impaler.
Currently, it is unclear how DLC codes for owners of the base game's collector's edition will receive access to Shadow of the Erdtree, but it seems likely that Bandai Namco will send out codes via email that will give owners a digital copy of the expansion. Shadow of the Erdtree still supports last-gen consoles as well, so PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will not have to miss out on the content.
