Elden Ring is a massive game with a huge fanbase. The game has a DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, that allows players to leave the Land Between for the Realm of Shadow, a dark place full of dangerous enemies.

While in the Realm of Shadow, players will need to find Map Fragments in order to unlock the ability to use the map in that area. Here's how to find the Map Fragment for the Abyssal Woods region.

How To Reach Abyssal Woods

ER-SOTE-Abyssal-Map-1

In order to obtain the Abyssal Woods Map Fragment, players must first reach the Abyssal Woods, which is much easier said than done. Here is a quick breakdown of reaching the area (for a more in-depth guide with a video, check out this one).

  1. Head to Scadu Atlus, reached by defeating Rellana at Castle Ensis. (This guide can help with that.)
  2. Once there, access the Shadow Keep (the giant black fortress in the area).
  3. Defeat the Golden Hippopotamus.
  4. Follow the main path of the fortress until reaching the bridge.
  5. Head down to the end of the bridge and look for a ladder that will allow you to reach a small path.
  6. Follow the path as it goes under the waterfall and take the next ladder down to the chamber with a painting.
  7. In this chamber, there is an illusory wall that you will need to hit and walk through.
  8. Follow the path until you find a coffin, which you can interact with.
  9. You're now in the Castle Watering Hole area, just head on the path until you find the Recluses' River Upstream Site of Grace.
  10. Continue along the rock pack until finding the Recluses' River Downsteam Site of Grace.
  11. Use the tombstones to drop down until you reach the Darklight Catacombs.
  12. At the end of the area, you will fight Jori, the Elder Inquisitor. Upon beating this boss, you will be in the Abyssal Woods.

The Abyssal Woods Map Fragment Location

Once you have made it to the Abyssal Woods, you need to head to the Abandoned Church (you can also find Scadutree Fragments here) and get the Map Fragment. To do this, you just need to head south from the Abandoned Graveyard (where you enter the Abyssal Woods). There is a path that leads toward the south in this area, and if you follow it by sticking close to the wall to your left, you will eventually reach the Abandoned Church (shown in the picture above) and find the Map: Abyss.
