Throughout Elden Ring, crossbows haven't had as much variation as other weapon types. While there are crossbows that add elemental affinity damage or fire multiple bolts at once, most of them are simple upgrades from those found previously.

In Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree, players will begin finding weapons that vary much more than the base game. While Crossbows don't normally have this variation, the Spread Crossbow is a great exception to that rule. Despite not acting the same as other crossbows, this unique weapon has more than enough uses for those willing to find it.

Like many other crossbows in Elden Ring, this weapon doesn't scale its damage based on a specific stat from the player. While many see this as a downside, it does make for a great additional tool in your arsenal that won't require specific levels or the perfect build to use effectively. What sets this crossbow apart from the rest of the pack is that it shoots ten bolts at once, in a large area straight ahead of the player.

This crossbow is not ideal for hitting faraway enemies, as lining up a single bolt to hit a far-off enemy is nearly impossible. That being said, the damage done by this weapon is based on the number of bolts that hit, making this an excellent weapon for dealing with massive foes that will be hit by all ten bolts. This weapon comes with the skill Kick, and despite its basic nature, can't be replaced with a better ash of war. That being said, due to the close-range nature of this weapon, Kick may serve some use to line up enemies for a burst of crossbow bolts.

Where To Find The Spread Crossbow In Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree

After arriving in the Shadow Lands, head north to reach Ellac Greatbridge. Be wary while crossing as the other side is an entire military encampment with a ballista that will start firing as you approach. Upon reaching the other side, take a right and follow the cliff's edge. On the other side of the military encampment will be an area not far down that players can drop to with a group of soldiers surrounding a dead body near a destroyed tent. Looting that body will reward players with the Spread Crossbow.
