One adventurous Elden Ring player has recently opted to turn the game's Mimic Tear boss fight into a comical repeat of their clash with Messmer the Impaler. This yielded some interesting footage that later made the rounds in the Elden Ring community, with their "dollar tree Messmer" consequently amusing many a fan.
As was the case with the base game, all Remembrance bosses in Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree expansion offer some valuable rewards for beating them. Many of them are obtainable by talking to Finger Reader Enia at the Roundtable Hold, who will grant them in exchange for Remembrances themselves. In the case of 
Messmer the Impaler, his Remembrance can be used to procure the Spear of the Impaler. Enia will occasionally also sell new equipment after certain bosses are defeated, with her special inventory being accessible by picking the "Receive equipment of champions" dialogue option.

Elden Ring Player Goes To Nokron for a Fight With Dollar Store Messmer
Among many other things, Enia sells Messmer's Set introduced in Shadow of the Erdtree. Reddit user werty45509 has recently opted to obtain that armor, then used it to relive their encounter with one of the most memorable bosses from the recently released expansion. To that end, they went to Nokron and initiated a boss fight with the Mimic Tear, which is required for reaching the Eternal City. Since this creature's gimmick is that it literally mimics the player, werty45509 forced it to change into a less menacing version of Messmer by wearing his armor set while wielding the 
Spear of the Impaler.
As the Mimic Tear takes a while to get into shape, the player had enough time to change into another setup, opting for a different armor set and a combination of the 
Bloodhound's Fang and the Jellyfish Shield. Although their Mimic Tear wasn't exactly on par with the Shadow of the Erdtree boss in terms of its overall threat level, the fight still ended up being quite close, with werty45509 coming close to perishing on several occasions. They later shared the footage of the encounter on the game's largest subreddit, much to the amusement of many other Elden Ring players. One fan succinctly described their Mimic Tear as "Dollar Tree Messmer."
Aside from its sheer entertainment value, werty45509's clip is also notable for illustrating just how powerful the Spear of the Impaler is. That's largely because this Shadow of the Erdtree weapon has a charged heavy attack with an absurd range, as well as a devastating Ash of War, both of which allowed the Mimic Tear to effectively maintain pressure on the player.
