Like all Soulsborne games developed by FromSoftware, Elden Ring has its fair share of disturbing elements. From the enslaved misbegottens of Castle Morne to omens found in the sewers hidden underneath the Royal Capital, the Lands Between is home to many races of creatures suffering under the influence of the Greater Will. In their journey to become the Elden Lord, players will face powerful Omen bosses such as Morgott and Mohg.

Morgott (or Margit) and Mohg are the twin sons born to Godfrey and Marika, both afflicted with the Omen curse. Like all cursed children, they were sent, chained, and locked in the Shunning Grounds underneath Leyndell. Players can discover Morgott’s and Margit’s Shackles and use them to restrain the twins, making the fight easier. While Margit’s Shackle can be purchased from Patches, obtaining Mohg’s Shackle is a tough nut to crack. Continue reading this guide to find out how to get and use Mohg’s Shackle in Elden Ring.

Elden Ring: Mohg’s Shackle Location

Subterranean Shunning Grounds

Mohg's Shackle is located deep in the Subterranean Shunning Grounds of Leyndell on the Altus Plateau. After defeating the Draconic Tree Sentinel and entering the Royal Capital, players can find the path to the sewers by heading northwest from the Avenue Balcony site of grace.

Go down the stairs and past the door. Then, take a quick left turn and jump onto the roof of the houses on the left side of the railing. Continue heading northwest to find a well and jump into it to discover an iron gate leading to the sewers. Follow this sewer until the end to find a door leading to the Subterranean Shunning Grounds. Beyond this door will be a ladder. Use the ladder to descend and then run north to find the Underground Roadside Site of Grace.

After unlocking the Underground Roadside grace site, the path to Mohg’s Shackle is simple, as long as one is good at running past enemies. Get ready to escape from agile imps. Leave the room with the grace site and run to the ladder going down on the east. Now, jump onto the southwest pipe, climb up, and drop down to the pipe on the right side. Proceed to drop to another pipe and then carefully slide to fall to the bottom layer of sewers.

At the bottom, there are two giant crayfish—one roaming on the northern side and the other hidden underneath on the southern side. Crouch and go south to wake up the hidden crayfish. If needed, players can use sewer pipes lying on the ground as a shield. Run past the crayfish to find Mohg’s Shackle lying next to a wall. After claiming the item, players can then either fight the crayfish or run south to find a small crack in the hole to take refuge.

How to Use Mohg’s Shackle

Elden Ring Mohg's Shackle use

Mohg’s Shackle is a tool to be used in Mohg’s boss fights. Like Morgott, Mohg also features multiple boss fights—Mohg, the Omen, and Mohg, Lord of Blood. Mohg, the Omen, is located at the bottom of the Subterranean Shunning Grounds, while Mohg, Lord of Blood, is one of the five shard bearers and holds his stronghold at Mohgwyn Palace.

During the Mohg boss fight, players can utilize Mohg’s Shackle to bind him to the ground for a few seconds. During this time, players can do high stance damage to break his stance or apply status effects like Scarlet Rot to make the fight easier. Mohg’s Shackle can be used twice during Mohg’s first phase.
