Elden Ring transports players to a massive world where they face dozens of deadly bosses and lots of other tricky challenges. However, players can do a few things to make the journey relatively easier, and leveling up is one of them. From Faith to Dexterity, the game features a variety of upgrades, but all of them require a large number of Runes. Apart from upgrades, players will also need Runes to purchase spells and other in-game items in Elden Ring.
Runes are relatively easy to obtain since every defeated enemy drops them, and as players explore the game world, they will discover some resources that provide extra Runes. However, there's a catch: players will lose these runes upon dying. Luckily, it is possible for players to retrieve their lost runes. Keep reading to learn how to recover lost runes in Elden Ring.
How to Retrieve Lost Runes in Elden Ring
Revisit the Death Point
One of the first things that Elden Ring players will realize is that death is practically inevitable, even for those who are well-acquainted with the game. As mentioned earlier, players lose their collected Runes when they die, and they respawn with full health at their last checkpoint. After respawning, players can simply return to their recent respawn point to reclaim Runes. It is recommended that gamers play cautiously before reaching the last death point because if they die again before picking up their dropped Runes, they will be gone for good.
Use Sacrificial Twigs
Sacrificial Twig is a handy Talisman in Elden Ring that players can use to save their hard-earned Runes upon death. It acts like a safety net for Runes. If players die with this twig equipped, they won’t lose any runes. Players can find it while exploring the game world or purchase it from various merchants, such as Twin Maiden Husks. Having said that, it is pertinent to mention that each twig can only be used once. It does protect Runes, but it gets used up upon death, so it's a one-time deal.
Retrieving Runes in a Boss Arena
Recovering lost runes in Elden Ring is fairly straightforward, but things can be difficult if players die in a boss fight. Fortunately, there's actually a trick that players can use to make things easier. After retrieving their Runes, gamers can collect them, go to the main menu, and exit the game. When they restart the game, they will find themselves outside the boss arena with all the Runes they gathered before they left.
