An Elden Ring host's party received quite the surprise when an invader ambushed them while dressed as the infamous boss Malenia, Blade of Miquella. Elden Ring's PVP scene is a sight to behold, and it's wildly different in comparison to the game's usual PVE. Whereas the enemies only do as told by their AI, other players can get creative with their approach, like when one player created a clever ambush in Elden Ring's Lake of Rot. However, it seems one invader got creative with their own character, and put the fear of the Goddess of Rot into the hearts of a host and their party.
Malenia, Blade of Miquella is famously known as the hardest boss in Elden Ring, being the bane of many players who have gone against her only to die, with some Elden Ring players dying to her 1,800 times before finally beating her. Her fight includes the infamous Waterfowl Dance attack that is notoriously devastating. However, defeating her first phase only transitions Malenia to her second phase, Goddess of Rot, which adds Scarlet Rot into the equation. Safe to say, the mere sight of her could strike fear in many players.
And that's what one Elden Ring invader set out to do when they ambushed one host's party while invading their world. Posting to r/Eldenring, user GaelTheVapeMaster uploaded a clip of their invading experience on one unfortunate co-op party. In the clip, the player, dressed as Malenia and wielding her sword, is standing just outside an elevator as it brings the players down. Just as the elevator reaches the bottom, the invader uses the Waterfowl Dance attack on them.
The attack kills both the host and one of their buddies, winning the match for the invader as they turn to the last remaining co-op partner and greet them, the partner returning the greeting because there isn't much left to do in that situation. Indeed, players have had to come up with multiple ways to avoid the Waterfowl Dance, it's so dangerous.
However, this is sure to be a unique experience for the host, especially if this is their first time playing the game. Elden Ring is full of unique experiences in of itself, but PVP only brings more, like when an Elden Ring player once turned themselves into a living furnace. That's what makes Elden Ring special, and there is sure to be more to come as it continues to be played.
Elden Ring is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
