February 25 is edging ever closer which means that it is not too long now before FromSoftware's Elden Ring releases. With the release date now in sight, FromSoftware has announced the different editions that consumers will be able to purchase some of which will be exclusive to specific regions.
The highest tier of the Elden Ring editions that gamers will be able to preorder is called the Elden Ring Premium Collector's Edition which will include a replica helmet from the game that is 1:1 scale, an exclusive steelbook, the digital soundtrack, a 40-page hard-cover artbook, a statue of Malenia - Blade of Miquella and the game itself of course.
The regular Elden Ring Collector's Edition will have everything that the Premium Collector's edition has besides the replica helmet. FromSoftware did, however, announce that players from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa will be able to purchase the Elden Ring Launch Edition which will be exclusive to these regions only. The Launch Edition will contain very different items to the other collector's editions such as a poster, a set of stickers, a woven patch, and art cards.
Bandai Namco deciding to exclusively offer the Launch edition in certain regions may upset some players who have decided to preorder the Collector's Edition or the Premium Collector's Edition. This is due to the fact that the Collector's Edition will retail for $189.99 and the Premium Collector's Edition most likely even more than that when the price is finally announced. It is also now uncertain as to whether more stock will be made available or if consumers will be able to buy similar editions from other retailers.
Most gamers spending that amount of money will most likely want to receive all of the extra merchandise that FromSoftware is putting out, however, this will unfortunately not be the case. Luckily some players who sign up for the Elden Ring closed network test registration will be able to play the game early and decide for themselves whether they should shell out $189.99 and get the Collector's Edition or if they should just pick up the standard version of the game.
Elden Ring unveiled its Collector's Editions alongside a new gameplay video which seems to show that FromSoftware is taking a different approach to the well-known and loved Souls formula. The Elden Ring Collector's Edition will have a map, item crafting, and even have mounts that players will be able to use.
The game will also include stealth which is something the developers may have decided to add after the success of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. FromSoftware may have made these moves in order to make the game more accessible to the general populace which will, in turn, enhance sales figures.
Elden Ring is releasing for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 25, 2022.
