For many players, Elden Ring Nightreign is a delightful return to a world of excitement full of enemies they know all too well, but with it comes many new features to mix up the gameplay formula of Elden Ring in new and interesting ways. One mechanic that needs to be learned in order to have the most success is the relics, powerful passive buffs that players can equip in order to give their character a much better chance at taking on the Nightlord.
How To Play Recluse In Elden Ring Nightreign
Recluse is a mage-type character in Elden Ring Nightreign that can be a little complex; here's how to play as this class.
Each character can equip their own set of relics of various colors, and one class that can really push the limits of the buffs is Recluse. She is a mage at heart who brings a boatload of damage from afar, giving players an alternative option to the bulky sword fighters and tanks. Certain relics can transform her kit into an overpowered series of skills that very few enemies can live through, and it is important to have a good understanding of what's available and the kinds of relics to look for in the bazaar.
7 Bone-Like Stone
A Small Price For A Massive Bonus
Effect:
- (Recluse) Activating Ultimate Art raises Max HP
- (Recluse) Suffer blood loss and increase attack power upon Art activation
- Intelligence +3
Recluse is one of the squishier characters that players can choose from, and the main reason for this is due to her ability to fire high-damage spells from great distances. Having a utility relic that raises the player's max HP can be a very useful way of staying in the fight longer and making the most of the extra healing that comes from her ultimate.
Her ultimate is already a huge steroid that buffs the entire team's sustain during intense fights, so adding even more damage on top, even if it's attack power, can be a great way of pushing through a tricky battle and making it out on top. Aside from the flashier effects, having some extra Intelligence right from the start makes those early spells hit way harder, as well as scaling super well into the later stages.
6 Sorcery Improvements
No Nightlord Is Safe
Effect:
- Improved (type) Sorceries
- Improved (type) Incantations
When running across Limveld as Recluse, players will want to keep an eye out for any camps or structures that contain seals and staffs, as her primary method of dealing damage is always going to be magic-based. Incantations can work great if the player opts for a more rounded build, but sorceries are where it's at, and having a relic that buffs their power is a huge benefit to any Recluse run.
Elden Ring Nightreign: 8 Overpowered Builds That Are A Lot Of Fun
Few builds are as potent as these overpowered Elden Ring Nightreign builds that are guaranteed to keep the game fun.
There are individual buffs for several types of sorceries, so it is up to the player to keep track of which buff they have active and which spells they need to look out for. Even if getting a specific kind of sorcery sounds hard, there are so many ways of finding a staff that getting the right combination is all but guaranteed.
5 Night Of The Demon
Nothing Wrong With A Bit Of Madness
Effect:
- Huge rune discount for shop purchases while on expedition
- Gesture "Crossed Legs" Builds Up Madness
- Madness Continually Recovers FP
Night of the Demon is a strange and peculiar relic that sounds just as silly as it is. For players who have faced Libra, they are rewarded with a relic that brings all of the madness from the fight right into the palm of the player's hand. A gesture that self-applies madness is a hilarious concept, but the benefit of doing so can be hugely beneficial, especially in fights that really go the distance.
Aside from the comedic side of the relic, being able to purchase items at a discount is a much more powerful buff than it sounds, as the merchants in Limveld charge a steep premium for even the simplest of items. Being able to get a few extra shards before the final fight or pass some consumables to a teammate can greatly improve the chances of success if used correctly.
4 Higher Magic Damage
Just Raw Mage Damage
Effect:
- Magic Power Up
- Intelligence
Sometimes, the best relics don't have to have the most powerful buffs or insane effects, and at times, it can be nice to have a basic boost to a character's damage. There are many magic power-up relics that can each be used together to provide a huge bonus right out of the gate to any and all spellcasters looking to deal some serious damage.
Also, even though the Recluse's base Intelligence is already incredibly high, that doesn't mean the player can't get even more, to bump up their spell power and really use the magic to its limit. Having high base stats can be a big difference maker when it comes to break points, as being able to take down a boss or a smaller foe in fewer hits can speed up a run immensely.
3 Night Of The Fathom
Supporting The Team However Possible
Effect:
- Increased Maximum HP
- Flask Also Heals Allies
- Items confer effect to all nearby allies
Night of the Fathom is a super cool relic that removes any of the damage or magical power and replaces it with simple supportive buffs that can turn the Recluse from a damage-heavy mage into a supportive spellcaster. Being able to heal allies on every flask use is a huge boost to the team's overall survivability.
The healing effect is made a lot easier to pull off by the added HP from the relic, which lets the Recluse player get much closer to the fight and still be able to stay safe from any large hits. Also, consumables in Nightreign are more powerful than ever, so being able to use a single item and apply it to the whole team is an absurd bonus that changes how teams play in a big way.
2 FP Increases
Infinite Spells For All
Effect:
- Max FP permanently increased after releasing Sorcerer's Rise mechanism
- Max FP Up with 3+ Sacred Seals Equipped
- Max FP Up with 3+ Staves Equipped
Recluse is a character who doesn't really struggle too much with FP, as she has a built-in method for recovering it both in her basic kit and with her Ultimate. But there will be times when the supply runs low after some particularly frivolous spellcasting, which means that having some extra FP can really help players finish off a Nightlord without worrying about a lack of mana.
There are so many great relic options that feed into the idea of raising FP, some working off of equipped items like staves that players would have anyway, and others feeding into the idea of unlocking Sorcerer's Rises, key locations for spellcasters to prioritize. Overall, it is a good idea to bring one or two FP buffs to allow those spells to come out at a constant rate for longer.
1 Vestige Of Night
The Most Damage A Mage Can Get
Effect:
- (Recluse) Collecting affinity residue activates Terra Magica
- Magic Attack Power Up +2
Vestige of the Night is one of Recluse's best relics when it comes to raw magic damage output. Having a boost to magic power the second the game loads in is already a great bonus, and the fact that it applies to all kinds of magic damage means that players are not limited to using a single kind of spell.
On top of the simple damage buff, every affinity collection casts a field on the ground that boosts magic damage for those standing in it. This adds even more damage for the player to make use of, and despite the circle being small and stationary, it is very easy to remain inside it and fully benefit from the insane damage boosts that the whole relic provides.
