During a showcase streamed at Red Bull’s Lancation event, a brand-new Elden Ring Nightreign boss fight was revealed ahead of the game’s launch, presenting Caligo, Miasma of Night. Elden Ring Nightreign is a co-op spin-off of FromSofware’s 2022 hit soulslike Elden Ring, serving up a now procedurally generated map of Limgrave named Limveld. The multiplayer was one of the biggest surprises to grace The Game Awards 2024, and fans are preparing to encounter a fleet of more punishing boss battles in due course.

Following the base game’s success, the dark fantasy received the equally popular Shadow of the Erdtree expansion in 2024, which ended up qualifying for Game of the Year due to its scale and additional content, but lost out to Astro Bot. Elden Ring Nightreign introduced the new Executor class recently, featuring the significant damage it inflicts, combined with a classic blade block. The class was included in a past wave of Nightreign leaks and joins the Nightfarers roster with Guardian, Ironeye, Raider, and more.

Streamed and posted on YouTube by Fextralife, a 10-hour stream included the grand reveal of the Caligo, Miasma of Night boss fight, following the news that Elden Ring Nightreign will have DLC bosses. During the exclusive reveal, nine creators were divided into three teams to face the Nightreign challenges, one of which dwelt in the new Fissure of the Fog dungeon. Lurking at the end stood the behemoth ice dragon, Caligo, and Team Nordic was skilled enough to beat the enemy during the first attempt. The boss fight demonstrated the dragon’s lethal attacks, including its tail strikes, and the battle also made good use of Nightreign’s new mechanics, such as environmental hazards.

Elden Ring Nightreign already has a long list of confirmed bosses set to return to the dark fantasy epic, including The Nameless King, Centipede Demon, and The Fell Omen, but the Caligo battle ignited excitement in the soulslike community. One fan praised the difficulty of the dragon’s attacks and the epic music that accompanied the encounter, while another noted the boss as being “awesome.”

Ahead of the multiplayer’s release on May 30, Elden Ring Nightreign’s Deluxe Edition and pre-order rewards have been revealed. Players can expect to bag a digital artbook and soundtrack after purchasing the Deluxe Edition, plus automatic access to future DLC content that has yet to be announced. Additionally, the game’s Collector’s Edition includes a Wylder statue not to be missed, and fans who pre-order their copy of Nightreign will receive a new gesture for their Nightfarer.
