Elden Ring Nightreign has been out for a while now, and players have been busy unraveling what makes it tick. As a roguelike reinterpretation of Elden Ring, FromSoftware's latest game was quite an enigma in the months leading up to its launch, but now players know more of what to expect from this co-op take on the Soulslike experience. Since then, Elden Ring Nightreign has become a smaller-scale success of its own, with players cycling in and out of sessions to tackle various challenges and enjoy a slow drip feed of new content.

Supporting the whole package is Nightreign's eight pre-made playable characters, another new development compared to recent FromSoftware titles. These Nightfarers serve as both the main vehicles for the story via Nightreign’s Remembrance sidequests, and as the different play styles that players can customize further through Relics. Many have already found their favorites among this group, and a general understanding of their strengths, weaknesses, and role in groups is forming. However, when it comes to bringing the right characters into the right circumstances, one Elden Ring Nightreign class has pulled ahead as the clear best option.

The Secret to One Elden Ring Nightreign Class Is Not What You Think

One of Elden Ring Nightreign’s strongest classes perfects a certain playstyle, but this Nightfarer has far more potential to unlock.

Elden Ring Nightreign's Ironeye Is Its Most Approachable Class

There Aren't Many Things Nightreign’s Ironeye Can't Do

Although every character and team composition can beat any of Elden Ring Nightreign’s Nightlords and Everdark Sovereigns, the Ironeye is the only class with the tools for every situation. The Ironeye is an archer that specializes in Dexterity and Arcane weapons, especially bows. In fact, Ironeye has a unique moveset while wielding a bow, and ranged enthusiasts across the player base have celebrated him for finally bringing bows up to par with spells and melee weaponry. That has more to do with Ironeye’s footwork and deft firing, which sadly don't extend to Nightreign's bow subtypes, but still makes him accessible to players who don't normally play ranged builds.

Ironeye can do a little bit of everything, and some things even better. Ranged affinity with above-average mobility is a rare privilege, and allows players to keep up the attack while staying out of harm’s way. For getting up close, Ironeye’s A scaling in Dex means he can use any of Nightreign’s Dexterity weapons proficiently. His Marking skill is a Swiss army knife that helps him reposition with I-frames while applying a defense debuff, and potential burst damage bomb, on whatever its dash strikes. Ironeye’s Ultimate Art, Single Shot, rounds out the package with a surprising amount of damage, stagger, and tendency to hit everything around its target.

Most Elden Ring Nightreign Runs Go Smoother With An Ironeye Onboard

Suffice it to say, Ironeye isn't lacking in many areas apart from HP, and his all-rounder style slots into any team. By staying out of harm’s way, Ironeye can ironically play support better than the intended magical healers by avoiding onslaughts and picking up downed allies from a distance. His passive, Eagle Eye, is the only one that applies to the entire team, and provides a noticeable boost to item discovery that can spawn more of Elden Ring Nightreign's Epic and Legendary armaments. Finally, coordinating around Marked foes can provide a solid DPS boost that keeps the pace of Day and Night fights high.

Ironeye Is Among Nightreign’s Stronger Solo Classes

Those who prefer to embark on Nightreign runs as a solo player will also find a lot to like about Ironeye. His triple-shot R2 ups his damage on larger enemies and can hasten staggers and status effects; playing mid-range for survival is just as good without teammates; and Ironeye’s passive and special abilities provide all the items, movement, and damage a solo Nightreign player could need. All of that comes before Ironeye's ability to keep peppering Nightlords even as they charge across their battlefields. Elden Ring Nightreign’s Ironeye always has something to contribute, and struggling players will want to give him a shot.
