FromSoftware has issued a warning to PC players of Elden Ring Nightreign. The developer confirmed that users with newer graphics cards may encounter unexpected framerate issues in Elden Ring Nightreign, and provided temporary solutions while an investigation is underway. Fans hope FromSoftware will quickly find a solution for this framerate issue on PC, as Elden Ring Nightreign will officially release on May 30, 2025.

Elden Ring Nightreign is a standalone prequel to 2022’s Game of the Year set in an alternative universe. Developed with a focus on multiplayer gameplay, Elden Ring Nightreign allows groups of up to three players take on the unforgiving challenges of the Lands Between together. Director Junya Ishizaki revealed that FromSoftware first had the idea for Elden Ring Nightreign during the development of Dark Souls 3, and they can now give players a large world to explore together with tough bosses to defeat along the way.

In a note included with Elden Ring Nightreign’s day-one patch notes, FromSoftware acknowledged a performance issue affecting certain PC players with the latest gaming graphics cards. The developer suggested that players encountering these frame rate drops reduce their graphical settings from "High" to "Medium" or "Low," lower the screen resolution, and ensure that their GPU drivers are fully updated. While no permanent fix has been confirmed, the studio stated it is actively investigating the root cause. This issue doesn’t seem to affect console players, and FromSoftware hasn’t shared any additional information as to exactly which graphics cards showed issues upon launching Elden Ring Nightreign.

PC Players Can Get Frame Rate Issues In Elden Ring Nightreign

Alongside the warning, a pre-launch patch was rolled out to address various performance and gameplay issues. Elden Ring Nightreign Patch 1.01 includes improvements to character responsiveness, several balance adjustments, and general bug fixes. It also added character scenarios and additional soundtracks for players to better enjoy their time throughout Limveld, the alternative version of Elden Ring’s Limgrave.

Despite the technical concerns, Elden Ring Nightreign has already become the most wishlisted game on Steam ahead of its release on May 30.
