A new Elden Ring Nightreign mod allows gamers to randomize their runs in different ways. This mod can be a good pick for experienced players who want more diversity during their Elden Ring Nightreign runs.
Released on May 30, 2025, Elden Ring Nightreign is a multiplayer roguelike take on FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, focusing on cooperative mechanics. Soon after its release, Elden Ring Nightreign became a huge hit, and it sold over 3.5 million copies in less than a week. Since then, modders have come up with a few interesting projects that change the game in different ways.
Elden Ring Nightreign Breaks a Classic FromSoftware Tradition
For a game full of references, Elden Ring Nightreign has avoided FromSoftware’s biggest tradition for its Soulslike games, and it isn’t clear why.
Now, a modder called thefifthmatt has created “Nightreign Randomizer and Derandomizer,” an Elden Ring Nightreign mod that can be downloaded from Nexus Mods. According to the creator, the mod will allow gamers to randomize runs with three option presets. One is similar to regular Elden Ring Nightreign, another one adds randomization to item rewards and other features, and there’s an “extra random” option. However, it’s possible that gamers will not notice major differences at first glance, as the base game already uses a procedurally generated system, so only variations of Night Bosses may seem readily apparent. There are also plans to improve the project in the future, allowing more in-depth placement customization. Also, the mod includes a “derandomizer,” which allows for a “more deterministic run” if the player wants.

Interestingly, the new project is compatible with the popular “Seamless Co-op” mod. This mod enables two-player co-op in Elden Ring Nightreign, something that FromSoftware has confirmed will be coming to the game, but it’s currently unavailable.
While Elden Ring Nightreign does not have a huge diversity of mods, the community has already devised some interesting ones that can improve the experience. For instance, one mod makes solo play easier in Elden Ring Nightreign. As soon as the game launched, many players were unhappy with how difficult solo runs were, and while FromSoftware has been tweaking them, this mod is still useful.
Hopefully, FromSoftware will continue to bring new features to Elden Ring Nightreign. One of the most interesting features brought to the game post-launch was the Everdark Sovereigns, powerful versions of the game’s Nightlords, which are the most challenging enemies in the entire run. Elden Ring Nightreign's Everdark Sovereigns rotate, and different ones can be fought at distinct weeks. At the moment, gamers can face Gaping Jaw and Darkdrift Knight, and Sentient Pest and Darkdrift Knight will be available from July 17 to 24.
