Elden Ring Nightreign has already passed an impressive milestone a couple of days before its official release on May 30. Elden Ring Nightreign is a co-op focused spinoff of FromSoftware's sensation, Elden Ring, which was released back in 2022.

The reveal of Elden Ring Nightreign caught many by surprise during The Game Awards 2024, especially since there weren’t many rumors about a new installment in this popular franchise. This was particularly unexpected given that the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion had launched just a few months earlier. The DLC even came close to winning Game of the Year but ultimately lost to Astro Bot.

There is a lot of hype surrounding the arrival of FromSoftware's newest title, Elden Ring Nightreign, which comes as no surprise since it builds on the success of its predecessor. While FromSoftware is known for its challenging action-RPGs, Elden Ring Nightreign has been described as a roguelike, a direction that has received mixed reviews. Many fans argue that the developers, and the Elden Ring franchise as a whole, should stick to what has worked so far. However, despite being a different, roguelike spin-off, Elden Ring Nightreign has become the most wishlisted game on Steam, overtaking the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Some players speculate that this surge in popularity may have been sparked by the recent reveal of the Executor. The class wields a large katana, allowing players to perform rapid attacks that slice through enemies alongside defensive capabilities, where the player deflects a series of attacks with their blade. Using the Executor will also allow players to transform into a large beast, significantly altering their playstyle. Many fans believe the popularity of the Executor class reflects a desire for a new samurai-inspired Souls title, reminiscent of the award-winning Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

In addition to the Executor, players will be able to choose from seven different Elden Ring Nightreign classes, each offering a unique gameplay experience, from the balanced Wylder, to the tanky Guardian, and the ranged Ironeye. Players who purchase the game before its official release will receive a special bonus gesture called “It’s Raining!," an emote where the character kneels and opens their arms.

This reward is included with both the standard and deluxe editions. The Elden Ring Nightreign Deluxe Edition costs $15 more than the standard edition, which is priced at $39.99. It includes digital access to the game, a digital artbook and soundtrack, as well as additional DLC content that will be revealed at a later date.
