At the start of Elden Ring Nightreign, players are stuck with the default appearance and armor set for each playable Nightfarer. Indeed, it is not possible to change costume in Nightreign until you have reached a certain progression milestone.

Elden Ring Nightreign: 7 New Features To Look Out For

With Elden Ring Nightreign set to release sometime in mid-2025, these are all the new features being added to reshape the Elden Ring experience.

To change skins, Nightreign players must first unlock the Dresser, then acquire Murk on Expeditions to spend on Outfits. There are a lot of unlockable skins in Nightreign, including many that are inspired by famous characters and armor sets from the Dark Souls series. This guide explains how to change appearance in Nightreign and a few ways you can get more skins to equip for all eight Nightfarers.

How To Unlock The Dresser & Change Skins In Elden Ring Nightreign

You do not start out with the ability to change your appearance in Elden Ring Nightreign. To unlock the ability to change your appearance and unlock new outfits for every Nightfarer, Nightreign players must successfully complete two Expeditions.

At first, you will only have access to the Tricephalos (Gladius, Beast of Night) Expedition. After you successfully hunt down this first Nightlord, you will be able to target any of the other six when queueing for an Expedition. When you complete your second Expedition and beat your second Nightlord, you will unlock the Dresser in what is normally Gideon Ofnir's study, just down the hall from the change character statue.

Interact with the Dresser and you will be able to change your character's appearance in Nightreign and unlock new outfits and costumes for each Nightfarer.

How To Unlock New Skins & Costumes In Nightreign

After you unlock the Change Garb Dresser, Nightreign players will immediately have access to two outfits for each Nightfarer. Both of these sets for every Nightfarer feature new armor designs and coloration, in keeping with the themes of "Dawn" and "Darkness", for a total of 16 armor sets you can purchase as soon as you unlock the ability to change costume.

Access the Dresser and scroll through the list to unlock these new skins with Murk:

  • Dawn: 14,000 Murk, primarily gold or white with light accents
  • Darkness: 35,000 Murk, primarily black or deep purple with dark accents

Later on in the game, as you continue to progress through Remembrance quests and complete Expeditions by defeating Nightlords, you will unlock more outfits for each Nightfarer. For example, by beating the final boss in the game, you will unlock the ability to buy two new Dark Souls-inspired skins for every character.

After unlocking new armor sets and appearances, Nightreign players must spend Murk to be able to equip them. Just like with the Dawn and Darkness outfits, Nightreign players do not automatically get access to unlocked costumes – you still have to purchase them.
