An Elden Ring player fought Malenia solo for their co-op partner but ended up getting betrayed by the host. Elden Ring features several difficult bosses, with many of them having multiple phases, but Malenia is probably the hardest of them all.

Bandai Namco recently revealed some interesting stats about Elden Ring, confirming that gamers had tried to beat Malenia 329 million times. By comparison, Margit was listed at 281 million attempts, with Radagon sitting at 148 million. Due to the difficulty of these fights, Elden Ring allows users to summon other players and play together, with some gamers preferring to take them on solo to give the host a free win. However, not all hosts are welcoming of this gesture, as one ends up betraying their partner during the battle against Malenia.

A Reddit user named bbbonkk was summoned to fight Malenia in Elden Ring, and the player claims to have fought her on their own. As seen in the video, Malenia is in her second phase, and the fight is about to end with the boss being just a few hits away from defeat. However, the host sends bbbonkk back to their world, presumably to finish Malenia off after their partner had depleted a vast majority of her health.

Other users in the comments section do not seem hopeful about the host’s chances of winning the fight, as many believe that they died after sending bbbonkk back to their world. On the other hand, some claim that these gamers manage to finish off Malenia and boast about defeating her without using the co-op feature in Elden Ring. Overall, players appear to hate whenever a similar incident occurs, with one user claiming to have stopped helping others after being on the receiving end multiple times. Some fans also believe that similar incidents did not take place while playing the Dark Souls games.

For those unaware, using the Finger Severer multiplayer item in Elden Ring ends the encounter, as the summoned player is sent back to their world. This can be useful in several scenarios, as it allows summoned users to quickly get out of the match if they need to, but the host can also utilize it to send their partner back home. However, this video shows why gamers in the comments section feel discouraged about helping other players, as it allows the host to take full credit for their hard work.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
