Elden Ring's Backhand Blade is a unique weapon for a variety of reasons, with it being one of the new weapon types added in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Since it is based on Dexterity, it is an extremely fast weapon that can tailored to be used in a number of ways.
Fans have been in awe of the
Backhand Blade from the get-go due to its fancy appearance, as the character holds the weapon in a unique way. Not to forget, its unique two-hand perk can also be a game-changer if players utilize the infusions and attributes properly. Here is the best build for the Backhand Blade.
Elden Ring: 15 Bosses With The Best Lore, Ranked
FromSoftware has an excellent reputation when it comes to lore. Here are the bosses with the best lore in Elden Ring, ranked.
How To Get Backhand Blade In Elden Ring
The Backhand Blade is one of the first weapons players can get in the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. In fact, players don't even need to defeat any bosses at all and can get the weapon directly in Gravesite Plains. Precisely players will need to be slightly northeast of the Scorched Ruins Site of Grace. Players can find the Backhand Blade near a tombstone which is inside a structure surrounded by some enemies.
These enemies can deal a lot of damage quite quickly, so players should try to take them down swiftly. AoE attacks like the Moonveil's R1/RB attack do quite well against them since they are usually quite close together. Not to forget, they give a decent amount of runes as well, so players can grab that as well.
Best Backhand Blade Build in Shadow of the Erdtree DLC
Unlike some of the other weapons where there are multiple ways to build a weapon, there is probably just one right way to make the most of the Backhand Blade. That is, players should use the Keen affinity, so that the weapon gets an S-tier Dexterity scaling and then take their Dexterity all the way up to the 80 soft cap. The S-tier Dexterity scaling will ensure players get massive attribute scaling, which adds up to the already decent 220 base physical damage of the weapon. However, that is not the only reason why this weapon is so great.
Usually, when players use two-hand weapons, it is for Strength weapons. The reason for that is quite simple, it just gives a 50% strength attribute scaling bonus. But the Backhand Blade is a unique weapon. Instead of merely getting a Strength bonus, players get the option to get two of these blades if they try to two-hand it. This means that players get the option to powerstance the weapon, without even owning two of them. This is really helpful in ensuring that the bleed buildup procs quickly, as the weapons hit really fast. With all that ready, all players need to do is use bleed buff on the weapon. That is, players can use
Blood Grease on the weapon, which is allowed on Keen affinity to ensure the attacks cause bleed buildup. Alternatively one can also use the Bloodflame Blade incantation. When players use the default skill Blind Spot or add something like the Swift Slash to this weapon, it becomes absolutely overpowered in both PvP and PvE.
When it comes to the Talismans, players should definitely have the
Lord of Blood's Exultation to boost their damage with bleed around. Apart from that, considering that this build requires quite aggressive play for the bleed buildup, the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman is a must, and so is another elemental negation Talisman such as the
Pearldrake Talisman +3, or the more specific ones depending on what element players are dealing with an encounter. Another great Talisman players should have is
Rotten Winged Sword Insignia as it boosts damage on successive attacks, which should be a breeze with this fast weapon. Additionally,
Millicent's Prosthesis can be a good option for players who lack enough Dexterity. Last but not least, although armor usually doesn't play a huge role, helms do, and the
White Mask is a great option to boost that bleed setup further.
