Similar to the countless weapons and items in the game, Elden Ring also includes Ash of Wars, which can be slotted into most weapons, granting them an additional unique skill. This guide includes information on the new
Ash of War: Savage Lion's Claw and how players can locate it fairly early in the game.
Updated July 10, 2024, by Waseem Muhammad: As more time passes on the launch of Shadow of the Erdtree, more secrets tend to unfold. The DLC has a lot of new Talismans and weapons that players can test out and create a build around them. Not all of these items are easy to acquire, as some require the player to face challenging bosses or clear caves beforehand. This update will focus on the Savage Lion's Claw Ash of War with added context on which weapons are suited for it and how players can maximize the total damage output.

Ash of War: Savage Lion's Claw Overview: Effects, & Skill
This Ash of War grants an armament the Heavy affinity. Usable on swords, axes, and hammers (small armaments and thrusting swords excepted).
In Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree,
Ash of War: Savage Lion's Claw is a new Ash of War. Performing the Ash of War allows the player to flip over and deal decent damage to enemies, possibly staggering most enemies. The Ash of War: Savage Lion's Claw's attack power can increase by 15% when used with the Shard of Alexander equipped.
Freyja's Greatsword is one of the best weapons to use this Ash of War on. This is because this Ash of War is a Redmane Skill, and Freyja's Greatsword enhances the damage of these skills by 10%. The flipping animation can sometimes be pretty slow, making it harder to hit enemies or bosses with high mobility. For Elden Ring players who want to further increase the damage of this Ash of War can equip the
Ritual Sword Talisman, which increases attack power by 10% when health is full.
This Ash of War is great for inflicting status effects such as Bleed or Frostbite if the affinity on the weapon is changed. If you plan on going for the Blood Affinity, you can equip
White Mask and
Lord of Blood's Exultation, which will increase your attack power whenever there is Blood Loss in the vicinity. The following are honorable mentions for weapons if you are not keen on using Freyja's Greatsword:
