Elden Ring has a wide variety of enemies and bosses in the main game that are unique and have different attack patterns. The DLC brings back one of the most popular enemies as a buffed-up boss version. The game has two Great Red Bears, both of which can be found relatively early on.
This guide includes a step-by-step walkthrough on how to reach Rugalea the Great Red Bear in Shadow of the Erdtree and how players can beat this boss.

How To Reach Rugalea The Great Red Bear
From the Temple Town Ruins Site of Grace, summon Torrent and ride north to encounter a few Lesser Kindred of Rots. These enemies cast
Pest-Thread Spears that can stagger you, causing you to dismount near them. Avoiding these is also quite difficult, so you must power through.
You can use the
Opaline Bubbletear beforehand to avoid taking some damage.
As you pass, these enemies keep heading north and try to avoid the Kindred of Rots in the middle of the area so they do not start chasing you. You can stick to the wall ahead and head northwest to reach the Ravine North Site of Grace. From this Grace, head west, going past the Spider Scorpions in the river around you. Once you reach the open fields, you will find a giant red bear named Rugalea roaming around. Defeating the boss will drop the Roar of Rugalea.
All Major Bosses in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
In the Elden Ring DLC, there are a total of eleven major Shadow of the Erdtree bosses, but you don't need to beat all of them to beat the DLC.
How To Beat Rugalea The Great Red Bear
Rugalea the Great Red Bear is a relentless boss that can take out your entire health bar in a few attacks. Its attacks include a Roar attack during which it rises from the ground to roar and knock you down. However, this is not to be confused with the Body Slam, when it rises from the ground, only this time, it slams its entire body in your general direction. It is best to dodge backward as soon as the rising animation starts to avoid this.
The other basic attacks, like the slash attack and rock throw, are more straightforward to dodge. The boss is weak in Fire and strong against Frostbite and Hemorrhage. This means that fire-based builds will do better than bleed proc builds. The Blasphemous Blade is great for this fight as you can use its weapon skill, Taker's Flame, to deal fire damage and heal for a small amount.
Talisman of the Dread,
Shard of Alexander, and
Fire Scorpion Charm can further enhance this damage.
