FromSoftware has unveiled two new Knight classes for the Tarnished Edition of Elden Ring. The edition was first announced during a Nintendo Direct event, confirming that the acclaimed Soulslike will be coming to the Switch 2. It was also revealed that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is not a standard port and will feature new content, including a long-awaited customization option for the mount, Torrent.

Elden Ring features ten base classes, including fan favorites like the Vagabond, Samurai, and Astrologer. These starting classes let players tailor their combat style and tweak certain gameplay elements. Since launch, the class lineup has stayed the same, even with the release of the long-awaited Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. However, the game's upcoming edition is poised to shake things up and refresh this key part of the experience.

According to Famitsu Japan, FromSoftware has announced two new classes for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, likely named "Ides Knight" and "Heavy [Armor] Knight." As the names suggest, both draw inspiration from medieval suits of armor, one featuring a light armor set and the other a heavy one. The reveal took place during the company's Spring 2025 Game Event in Tokyo, where images showcased all four variants of the two classes. However, gameplay details and performance specifics remain under wraps.

Elden Ring's New Classes Won't Be Exclusive to Switch 2

One of the highlights of FromSoftware's Spring 2025 Game Event was the announcement of the Tarnished Pack. It seems the studio plans to bring all the new content from Elden Ring's Switch 2 edition to other platforms through a separately released bundle. While it's still unclear whether this will be a paid add-on or what the pricing might be, fans can look forward to these additions arriving on their preferred platforms alongside the new edition's launch on Nintendo's next-gen console.

FromSoftware also shared more details about Torrent's customization, confirming that the feature will be accessible at Elden Ring' s Sites of Grace. For those unfamiliar, it was previously revealed that the upcoming update will also introduce new weapons and armor, some of which were reportedly shown during the event.

FromSoftware's Spring 2025 Game Event in Tokyo drew such a large crowd that the company was forced to close admissions. According to reports, some fans were unable to enter the convention area despite the studio's efforts to accommodate as many attendees as possible. Fortunately for Japanese Elden Ring fans, a second event is scheduled for May 10 in Osaka, where a new demo of Elden Ring: Nightreign and art exhibits from past titles will be on display.
