The current state of the Lands Between players see in Elden Ring was put into place thanks to a Black Knife. Before the Tarnished arrived, a group of assassins used Black Knives to kill Godwyn, and bring real death back into the Lands Between and set forth a chain of events that set the stage for the events in the game.

While it may not have the same god-slaying flash to it, players can find and use a Black Knife that is the same as the ones used to kill Godwyn The Golden, if not possibly the same one. The Black Knife has a unique ability that makes this weapon worth the effort to obtain; here's where to find it.

Where To Find The Black Knife In Elden Ring

Players will first need to progress until they reach and use the Grand Life Of Dectus in Elden Ring. Taking this lift will bring players to the Atlus Plateau, where they will need to head east into the city before following the main road north. Continue following the path north and out of the city until you reach the Windmill Village Site Of Grace. From here, take the path back the way you came before taking the southern road at the fork.

Be sure to ride quickly on Torrent as the lightning strikes are much more deadly than just adding to the atmosphere of the region. Following the dirt road south will have players pass the Rampartside Path Site of Grace, which players should rest at to set a respawn point. Continue on the path west to reach a large stone structure with a statue on top. At the entrance to the structure will be the Black Knife Assassin field boss.

Being a field boss, players can choose to fight on horseback, but it's best to face this enemy on foot due to their size and speed. The Black Knife Assassin moves quickly and can even teleport over short distances. This boss will quickly move around even during its attack animations, so make your combos short to not be caught mid-animation when the boss jumps behind you for a counter-attack. Defeating the Black Knife Assassin will reward players with the Black Knife.

The Black Knife is best when used by a Faith build in Elden Ring. This weapon deals physical damage along with Holy damage, and can't be infused with an Ash of War because of its unique ability, Blade Of Death. This ability fires a blade-like projectile that deals pure holy damage based on the player's Faith. This ability deals damage while also temporarily decreasing the opponents' max HP. The damage and effect are useful against any enemy but also help scare an opponent in PVP as they see their current health and max HP decrease even just temporarily.
