Tried pickpocketing NPCs to level your Sneak in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered? Here’s how to level it up quickly and easily.

Along with obtaining the mission of Arrow of Extrication, players will need to know where they can find it and how they can safely take it without canceling themselves out of any additional quests outside of the Thieves Guild.

How to Get the Arrow of Extrication Quest in Oblivion Remastered

To start the Arrow of Extrication quest, players must have fenced 700 Gold with the Thieves Guild fences by stealing valuables and selling them to specific vendors, like Ongar in Bruma's Olav's Tap and Tack, and Orrin in the Anvil Castle's Smithy area. After players have sold 700 Gold from stolen goods at the Thieves Guild fences, head to the Imperial City's Waterfront District. Once here, wait 24 in-game hours, and Amusei should interrupt players and give them a quest to visit the Gray Fox. Players will be able to find the Gray Fox in Malintus Ancrus's House in Chorrol, where they can accept his special job.

How to Sneak Into Bravil Castle and Find Fathis's Secret Room in Oblivion Remastered

Now that players have the Arrow of Extrication quest, they will need to travel to Bravil. From here, locate any beggar found roaming in Bravil and bribe them for information on their target: Fathsi Aren. Players will then be told to head into Fathis's room, which is found upstairs from Bravil's Castle's main room in the Lord's Manor North Wing. To access this area without alerting the guards, wait until around 7-8 AM, when the guards will change patrols, and players can safely sneak through.

Once inside the Lord's Manor North Wing, head to the first room on the left for Fathis Aren's room. Now, pick the locks on the two chests on the west corner of the room, only to discover that they hold no Arrow of Extrication. At this point, look to the north of Fathis's room and interact with the small pillar on the right to activate a secret entrance to Bravil Wizard's Grotto.

How to Get Through Fathis Aren's Tower in Oblivion Remastered

Before accessing the secret room, it's advised to bring a potion of water-breathing. Once ready to proceed, players will want to head through where they will encounter some enemies, like Conjurers and Dremora. While there is some decent loot scattered in the dungeon, the main focus will be heading north through the twisting corridors until you reach the tunnels, where players are able to swim down. At this point, drink the water-breathing potion (if you have it) and swim north, where a hole in the underwater cave will allow players to proceed. Players can swim even further down, but that's not the way forward, and the underwater cave is so deep that they will likely drown. Keep on traversing north in the underwater cave to reach Fathis Aren's Tower.

A map of the exact location for the water cave and where to head can be found in the image above.

How to Successfully Steal the Arrow of Extrication in Oblivion Remastered

Once inside Fathis Aren's Tower, players must climb the stairs to the top floor to find Fathis's lab, but they are going to have to encounter a hostile set of ghosts, Dremora, and Fathis Aren himself. While players can kill Fathis Aren without paying a Blood Price to the Thieves Guild, it's extremely important not to kill Fathis Aren if you are a member of the Mages Guild, as you will be expelled immediately. To avoid trouble with the Mages Guild, it's best to just sprint up the tower, to access Fathis Aren's chest and steal the Arrow of Extrication along with the key to the front door. Feel free to kill the enemies in your path, but make sure to ignore Fathis Aren, even if he is hostile.

With these two items obtained, players can exit through the south wall through the Giant Door to the Tower of Fathis Aren, where they will be able to fast travel. Even with hostile enemies activated, they will not track players through this door, so head through and fast travel back to Chorrol and enter Malintus Ancrus' House to give the Arrow of Extrication to the Gray Fox, thus concluding the quest and providing players with the following rewards:
