Summary
- Oblivion Remastered offers bountiful locations for farming resources like food, herbs, and mushrooms.
- Accessing these locations may require joining certain factions or purchasing DLC content.
- Locations like Blankenmarch and Gottlesfont Priory offer free and valuable resources for players.
Almost every RPG has crafting options that require the player to wander the countryside and gather various items. For Oblivion Remastered players who take farming resources seriously, several places in Cyrodil offer wide varieties and volumes of food, herbs, mushrooms, and other ingredients.
A few of these bountiful locations are simply hidden in the countryside, waiting to be discovered, but others take some work to access. That could mean finishing a quest, picking a lock, or just buying the DLC.
For those playing the Remastered version of the game, the Deluxe Edition includes the downloadable content from back in the day.
7 The Alchemical Garden
Arcane University, Imperial City
- How To Access: Become a member of the Mage's Guild.
It takes a bit more work to get the references required to join the Mages Guild in Oblivion Remastered, but doing so gives players access to a wide variety of alchemical ingredients that are free for the harvesting. There are a variety of useful plants and flowers growing in various places throughout the university, also free for the taking, but there's also an impressive Alchemical Garden that can easily fill any adventurer's herbal needs.
The Lustratorium is the alchemical center of the university, and players can come here for training, buying, and selling related items. The Upper Level includes a hearty snack table and several barrels and crates used for storage, and the contents are also free for the taking.
6 Blankenmarch
Blackwood, Northeast Of Leyawiin
- How To Access: Explore the woods northeast of Leyawiin.
This humble farm village consists of three small cottages and several plots of arable land. It has a few friendly residents who don't mind wayward adventurers picking their crops, flowers, or mushrooms, and there's plenty to be had in the gardens here. There's a lot of Tiger Lily here, which yields Tiger Lily Nectar, an ingredient that restores Endurance and grants the Water Walking ability.
Best Rings In Oblivion Remastered
Here's a list of the best Rings in Oblivion Remastered, including some of the most broken accessories to boost the players' stats.
While the player is waiting for respawns, they can also loot the cottages, which contain a few interesting items that can't be grown from the dirt. Bags of flour, bottles of skooma, and Shepherd's Pie are just a few examples.
5 Frostcrag Spire
The Highest Garden In Cyrodil
- How To Access: Part of The Wizard's Tower DLC and the Remastered Deluxe Edition.
There's a rough, unmarked road that leads east from Bruma, and players can follow it through the snowy mountains to reach Frostcraig Spire, and the quest to discover its mysteries begins just by arriving there. To get in, players can either pick the lock, which is of medium difficulty, or travel around the outer wall until they find the campsite where the key is hidden.
It's not exactly the best location, but other than the storage space, beds, and books, there's also a wealth of alchemical ingredients. The Alchemy Garden is attached to the private living quarters and contains 30 different kinds of herbs, mushrooms, and other various plants, and the Alchemy Lab is at the Apprentice level for mixing them.
4 Deepscorn Hollow
Finish The Quest And Gain A New Residence
- How To Access: Complete the Deepscorn Hollow quest.
Another adventure and location that was part of a DLC, players can find and possess Deepscorn Hollow without finishing the quests, which mainly consist of traveling to the Imperial City and purchasing upgrades. Entering the location is a bit tricky and involves a bit of underwater swimming, and players mustn't forget to read Greywyn's Journal once it's discovered.
There are only two ingredients at this location, but they are hard to find elsewhere and are needed to make dangerous concoctions.
Nightshade has the power to Damage Luck and Fortify Magicka, and
Purgeblood Salts, which Damage Health and Restore Magicka, can also be found here.
3 Weatherleah
A Bountiful Harvest After The Quest Chain
- How To Access: Finish the "Separated At Birth" quest chain.
After the protagonist finishes the quest to reunite the estranged Jemane brothers, the quest that follows called "Legacy Lost," which helps them regain their stolen property, can be started. There's a lonely farm between Skingrad and Chorrol that's been overrun by ogres, and once the quest to regain it is finished, the brothers will start to cultivate the land again, and the hero who saved it is welcome to any of it.
Other than the various crops and flowers, such as potatoes and pumpkins, the farmhouses also have a decent stock of general supplies. Players can also use the main cottage as one of their residences, complete with a free bed.
2 Gottlesfont Priory
Various Plants, Herbs, And A Free Bed
- How To Access: Go exploring in the woods between Chorrol and Skingrad.
The Gottlesfont Priory isn't just a small and beautiful woodland chapel; it's also a small settlement that includes a cottage and bits of farmland. Foraging in the area yields a variety of wild flowers and fungi, including plenty of Lady's Mantle, which restores health.
8 Hardest Achievements in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered
These achievements are the hardest ones to get in Oblivion Remastered, but they're worth the effort.
The altar in the chapel works to restore any ailments, which is a handy feature, and the herbs here are free for the taking. There are only two residents of this humble settlement, Sister Angrond and Sister Phebe Jeanard, and they welcome weary travelers.
1 Lord Drad's Estate
Plenty Of Food Crops And Herbs
- How To Access: Find this location north of Anvil.
There's a quest related to this estate if the player talks to the owner and resident, Lord Drad, but it's not necessary to complete it to access the farm and crops surrounding the property. The resources here include a generous amount of corn, tomato, tobacco, and more, all in ample amounts for alchemical experiments or just for daily meal supplies.
Entering the manor is trespassing, and the lord and lady barely tolerate the character's presence in their house, even as one of their trusted employees. However, the Slave Quarters and mine are fully accessible, along with virtually everything within them.
