One of the biggest struggles of playing with an enchanted weapon in The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is constantly running out of charges after an hour or two of gameplay. Without charges to power an enchant, an enchanted weapon is basically the same as a non-enchanted one, but with a slightly higher price tag.
Knowing all the ways to fill the charge meter back up is absolutely crucial, especially at higher difficulties where every advantage can be the difference maker between victory and defeat.

How to Recharge Enchanted Weapons in Oblivion Remastered
There are three ways to refill an enchanted weapon's charges in Oblivion Remastered.
- Merchant Recharge Services
- Soul Gems
- Varla Stones
Enchant Recharge Services
The most straightforward—and the most expensive—way to recharge enchantments on a weapon is by recruiting the services of a special merchant found in Mages Guild Halls and the Arcane University. They can easily be identified by the Recharge Weapon icon in the bottom left corner of the screen when talking to them, right next to the Persuasion icon (pictured above).
These vendors demand a large sum of gold to recharge your weapon to full charge. To be specific, they charge 1 Gold per 1 charge. This means that for a weapon enchanted with a Grand Soul Gem, for example, they would ask 1600 Gold to fully recharge it, since the maximum amount of charges a weapon can have is 1600.
In most cases, this method is not recommended as the gold cost is simply not justifiable in most scenarios. Relying on this service can bankrupt even the richest of players.
Soul Gems
Filled Soul Gems have the ability to recharge enchanted items by a certain amount. You can fill Soul Gems by using the
Soul Trap effect on enemies and trapping their souls inside appropriately sized empty Soul Gems.
Soul Gems—both filled and empty—can be purchased from all types of vendors in the game, with the best stock being in the hands of Mages. However, each vendor's inventory only carries a limited amount of Soul Gems at a time, meaning there is no way to buy them in large quantities. Luckily, you can reset the stock by waiting for a week in-game.
Varla Stones
Varla Stones are rare items that can be found in Ayleid Ruins. Upon use, a single Varla Stone will fully recharge all enchanted items in the inventory. This is incredibly cost-efficient if you have multiple enchanted weapons for different scenarios. Even if it's only a single weapon, the cost is still cheaper than using vendor services for a fully depleted weapon with a Grand Soul enchant. Varla Stones are fixed drops that don't respawn after they have been looted. This means if you do end up using one, that's one less Varla Stone in the worldspace.
Welkynd Stones are another type of stone found in Ayleid Ruins but they only restore Magicka, not charges.
