The Mages Guild has an abundance of members in Oblivion Remastered, and across Cyrodiil's many holds, players will encounter quite a few of them. However, not everyone in the Mages Guild is nice, and some might even be hostile to the player's goals, leading to their death and the eventual expulsion of the player role in the Mages Guild.
Luckily, those who have been expelled from the Mages Guild in Oblivion Remastered can get unsuspended so that they may continue to practice their magic, engage in Mages Guild quests, and simply bother more mages throughout the holds of Cyrodiil.
How to Get Unsuspended from the Mages Guild in Oblivion Remastered
There are two ways that players can get suspended from the Mages Guild:
- Get caught stealing from Mages Guild members/buildings
- Kill anyone in the Mages Guild (regardless of whether you are in stealth)
Depending on how players were suspended, depends on what players must do to get unsuspended. However, the first step is always the same, which involves visiting Raminus Polus, who can be found in the Imperial City's Arcane University within the Arch-Mage's Lobby throughout the day. After speaking with Raminus Polus, he will task players with objectives, depending on what crime they have committed against the Mages Guild. It's also worth noting that despite Raminus Polus asking for 20 of both ingredients, players only need to hand in one set of 20:
|
Task |
Available If |
How to Get |
|
Collect 20 Dragon's Tongues |
Caught Stealing |
Found around Fort Redwater on the Panther River, and the south region of Bravil. |
|
Collect 20 |
Caught Stealing |
Purchased from Alchemy stores and found within Fort Bulwark and the Blackwood swamp. |
|
Collect 20 |
Murdered a Mages Guild Member |
Purchased from Alchemy stores and looted from Dremora enemies found in Oblivion Gates. |
|
Collect 20 |
Murdered a Mages Guild Member |
Looted from dungeons, commonly farmed in Barren Cave on the Blue Road. |
Considering players will have to collect so many ingredients, it's a good idea to use the duplication glitch to make the process easier.
Upon collecting any of the above materials (depending on the crime), players can return to Raminus Polus to hand them in, where they will be unsuspended. However, if players commit a second crime and get suspended again, they will have to collect the ingredients listed above in sets. That means if players were caught stealing, they must provide 20 Dragon's Tongues and 20 Redwort Flowers, instead of just one or the other. The same is said for murder, where players must collect both 20 Daedra Hearts and 20 Vampire Dust.
Can You Be Permanently Suspended from the Mages Guild in Oblivion Remastered?
If players have committed a total of three offenses, meaning they have been caught stealing from the Mages Guild three times, or committed three murders, then they will be permanently excluded from the Mages Guild. If players really do need to commit a crime against the Mages Guild, then it's a good idea to create a quicksave beforehand, as once players commit their third offense, they will be forever removed from the Mages Guild. However, Arch-Mages cannot be permanently expelled and will simply have a bounty, but there are some things suspended members need to keep in mind:
- No access to Enchanting Altars
- No access to Spellmaking Altars
- No Training services from Mages Guild NPCs
