In the world of The Elder Scrolls, Skooma is a highly addictive drug refined from Moon Sugar. It's one of the most infamous items in the series because of the powerful effects it can grant, but it's also one of the few items that are considered illegal in most of the games in the series.
Oblivion Remastered: Level Scaling, Explained
The level scaling system in Oblivion Remastered closely resembles the original game's level scaling with some minor differences.
In Oblivion Remastered, Skooma provides huge physical benefits at the cost of other stats. Though it is also required by some quests, such as "The Lonely Wanderer", you can consume this special potion to gain these effects temporarily. This guide explains what effects of Skooma are when consumed and suggests locations where you can find more Skooma in Oblivion Remastered.
Oblivion Remastered Skooma Effects
What Happens If You Drink Skooma?
In Oblivion Remastered, Skooma effects remain unchanged from the original 2006 version of Oblivion. Skooma is an illegal substance in Oblivion Remastered, and will be confiscated from your inventory if you are arrested by a Guard.
You can't drink multiple Skooma to stack its effects and fly into the sky like in Morrowind, nor will you simply restore Stamina like in Skyrim. Instead, the Oblivion Remastered version of Skooma is somewhere in between, and grants incredible Strength and Speed at the cost of your Agility and Intelligence.
- Drain Agility on Self: 60 points
- Damage Intelligence on Self: 2 points
-
Fortify Strength
on Self: 60 points
-
Fortify Speed
on Self: 60 points
After drinking Skooma, Oblivion Remastered players will suddenly become incredibly fast, deal significantly more damage with melee weapons, but will lose a significant chunk of their Agility and Intelligence Attributes, hampering ranged, stealth, and magic playstyles.
Plus, like in the original game, Skooma effects stack when you consume multiple Skooma at the same time in Oblivion Remastered. Despite it being well-known as an incredibly addictive substance in the game's lore (just look at what it did to Faelian in the "The Lonely Wanderer" Dark Brotherhood quest), players cannot become addicted to Skooma in Oblivion Remastered.
Oblivion Remastered: Which Race Should You Pick?
All Races in Oblivion Remastered have strengths and weaknesses, but the best Oblivion Remastered races offer powerful benefits for specific builds.
Where To Find Skooma In Oblivion Remastered
There are two ways you can get Skooma in Oblivion Remastered: purchase Skooma from a Skooma Vendor, or find Skooma out in the world. Because Skooma is an illegal substance, Guards will always confiscate it from your inventory, whether it has the Stolen flag or not.
So, if you see some Skooma and no-one else is around, it doesn't really matter if you steal it or not – just don't get caught. But if you want to be more careful, find a Skooma vendor out in the world, of which there are two.
Oblivion Remastered Skooma Locations
In Obliivon Remastered, Skooma looks like a small purple potion bottle, shorter than most other potions in the game. Look carefully for these small purple bottles out in the open in hidden areas (like basements) and dungeons, or contained within locked chests in homes and shops.
There are dozens of Skooma locations in Oblivion Remastered, but unfortunately, none of them respawn. Once you have found a Skooma location and pick it up, it will never re-appear, even it it was inside of a container.
Oblivion Remastered: Where To Store Items
There are a handful of storage containers players can use to store items in Oblivion Remastered, including storage chests within an owned home.
These five Skooma locations are relatively easy to find early in the game, typically as part of major quests and faction quests that will lead you to their locations:
- Lorkmir's House, in the Elven Gardens district of the Imperial City. There are two bottles of Skooma on the table in the main room. Follow the Dark Brotherhood questline to be led here during "The Lonely Wanderer" contract.
- The Skooma Den, next to the chapel in Bravil. You can find multiple bottles of Skooma throughout the den and pickpocket the Skooma addicts to steal their Skooma.
- Roland Jenseric's Basement, in Roland Jenseric's house east of the Imperial City. Follow the "Order of the Virtuous Blood" quest to be led here, then sneak into the basement to find two Skooma bottles.
- Robber's Glen Cave, a dungeon to the northwest of Bravil. This area contains a chest with three Skooma in it. You will be led here as part of the Fighter's Guild questline.
- Southwest Imperial Watch Tower, in the Imperial City. Sneak into the Watch Tower, then go down into the basement to find two Skooma on a table. You will be led here during the first special project for the Thieves Guild.
Where To Buy Skooma In Oblivion Remastered
You can also buy Skooma in Oblivion Remastered if you do not feel like stealing from homes or pickpocketing people, or delving into dungeons to find more Skooma. There are two Skooma vendors in Oblivion Remastered: Nordinor and Shady Sam.
- Nordinor can be found next to the Silverhome on the Water Inn in Bravil, next to the northern gate. Look in the alley after midnight to purchase Skooma.
- Shady Sam can be found just northeast of the Chestnut Handy Stables on the west side of the Imperial City, standing next to the city walls. Look for him near the Elven Gardens district icon on the world map (outside of the city).
Keep in mind that, even if you purchase Skooma from a vendor, it is still considered an illegal substance and will be confiscated along with any other stolen goods if you get arrested.
