Another Daedric Prince demands the aid of the player in Oblivion Remastered, and Malacath is one such prince that should not be denied his request. This God of the Orsimer sees orcs and ogres as his property, and when someone else has used them as slaves, he's not too happy. Less so for the slave part, but more so because they're his and his alone.

Ring of Khajiiti and meridia's shrine
How to Get Ring of Khajiiti (Meridia’s Shrine Quest) in Oblivion Remastered

Complete a task for the Daedric Prince, Meridia, to receive the powerful Ring of Khajiiti, and here's exactly how to do it.

It's time to seek out Malacath's Shrine and do his bidding so that players can get Volendrung, a powerful two-handed and blunt weapon in Oblivion Remastered that can crush skulls, bash bones, and simply act as a powerful Dwemer hammer that embodies so much bitter hate and power.

How to Find Malacath's Shrine in Oblivion Remastered

Malacath's Shrine can be found directly north of Anvil, just before the Brena River. However, in order to actually start the mission, players must be Level 10. To start, speak with Shobob gro-Rugdush, who will require a disposition of 50+ to start the quest. This can be easily achieved by using the Persuasion Wheel and focusing on topics he likes to raise the stat. Alternatively, players can make their race an Orc, where they will instantly like the player.

With Malacath's Shrine located and the appropriate level attained, players must now seek out the offering they need, which is Troll Fat.

How to Get Troll Fat in Oblivion Remastered

delivering troll fat

Troll Fat is dropped by a variety of Trolls found across Cyrodiil, and a common place to find Troll Fat will be on the corpses of slain Trolls found in Veyond, a large Ayleid Ruin that can be found in the northeast region of Leyawiin. Troll Fat can also be purchased from most ingredient vendors after Level 9, so the easiest way to get Troll Fat is to purchase it from The Main Ingredient in the Imperial City's Market District. Upon obtaining one Troll Fat, head to the Malacath Shrine and interact with the altar to sacrifice the ritual item and hear Malacath speak of a quest.

How to Free the Ogre Slaves at Lord Drag's Estate in Oblivion Remastered

Where to Find the Ogre Slaves at Lord Drag's Estate

With instructions from Malacath, head south across the Gold Coast to find Lord Drad's Estate, where players can enter the manor stationed by the fields to speak with Lord Drag. If players ask Lord Drag about the Ogre Slaves and then select the option: I admire your efforts, then they will receive the location of the Ogre Slaves themselves. The Ogre Slaves can be found at Bleak Mine, just a short walk east of Lord Drag's Estate. However, if players do not like lockpicking, they can pick up the Bleak Mine Key on a table inside Lord Drag's Estate on the ground floor.

the trolls kill the player horse

Before entering Bleak Mine, leave your horse stationed far away from Lord Drag's Estate, as the Ogres are hostile towards animals and will attempt to kill the horse. Players cannot kill the Ogres, as turning them hostile will fail Malacath's quest.

Head east to the Bleak Mine, and use either the key or lockpicking to open the door. Once inside, players are going to have to be cautious, as plenty of guards will become hostile since the player is trespassing. The best way to free the ogre slaves in Bleak Mine is to kill one of the guards and loot their body for one of two keys:

  • Tarnished Ogre Cage Key (Opens the cells on the left)
  • Shiny Ogre Cage Key (Opens the cells on the right)

Players are going to want to open the cells as fast as possible so that the Ogres will become allies and begin to attack the guards. The Ogres are always hostile to the guards, so there's no point using stealth, as a non-lethal approach is not possible. Once the guards are dead and the ogres are freed, head back to Malacath for the reward.

How to Get Volendrung in Oblivion Remastered

malacath's weapon, volendrung

Now that players have successfully freed the Ogres (it does not matter if they survived), they can head back to Malacath's Shrine, where, upon speaking to the altar, they will receive their praise. After freeing the Orcs, players will be rewarded with the two-handed blunt warhammer, Volendrung. As a two-handed blunt warhammer, Volendrung has a pretty powerful yet slow swing. Volendrung also has some neat effects, as it's an enchanted weapon that comes with the following two perks:

  • Paralyze on Strike (3 Seconds)
  • Drain Health on Strike (5 Points, 20 Seconds)
