The magic system in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered allows players to apply all sorts of effects to themselves, including invisibility from the
Chameleon effect. There are a few ways to apply the Chameleon effect to a character in Oblivion Remastered, and reaching a full 100% Chameleon effect will render a character completely invisible to NPCs and enemies. This is a great way to steal things, complete quests, and ignore combat encounters altogether, so it's very hard to maintain 100% Chameleon as a result.
That doesn't mean it's impossible to get 100% Chameleon in Oblivion Remastered, though, as players have already figured out multiple ways to become completely invisible to the citizens of Cyrodiil. Whether it's via potions, enchantments, or magical spells, there are quite a few ways to apply Chameleon to a character in Oblivion Remastered.
Oblivion Remastered: Where to Find Master Alchemy Tools
Alchemy tools can enhance the quality of potions in Oblivion Remastered, but finding master-level Alchemy equipment can be a hassle.
How to Get 100% Chameleon Enchantments in Oblivion Remastered
The easiest and most reliable way to attain 100% Chameleon in Oblivion Remastered is via enchanted armor. Enchanting five pieces of armor with filled Grand Soul Gems will imbue each piece with 20% Chameleon, adding up to a 100% total that renders the player completely invisible as long as the enchantments remain active.
This requires access to the Arcane University's enchantment tables, however, so only accomplished members of the Mages Guild can bestow custom enchantments upon their armor. The Frostcrag Spire player home is the only other place in Oblivion Remastered with enchantment tables, but unlocking the enchantment table at Frostcrag Spire costs quite a bit of gold.
For players without access to enchantment tables in Oblivion Remastered, Sigil Stones are the only way to get new enchantments for equipment. Sigil Stones are rewarded for closing Oblivion Gates throughout Cyrodiil. Each of them comes with various magical effects that can be applied to weapons and armor. Farming Oblivion Gates and reloading save files until a Sigil Stone has the Chameleon effect attached is the best way to get them.
How to Brew Chameleon Potions in Oblivion Remastered
Alchemy is another method to attain 100% Chameleon in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. Chameleon potions can be brewed with rare ingredients (typically found within Oblivion Gates).
Bloodgrass is the only Chameleon ingredient available to novice alchemists, but journeyman and expert-level alchemists can also use the following ingredients to brew Chameleon potions.
- Daedra Silk
- Radish
- Venison
- Columbine Root Pulp
- St. Jahn's Wort Nectar
- Elytra Ichor*
- Grummite Eggs*
- Mute Screaming Maw
- Screaming Maw*
- Wisp Core*
Items marked with an asterisk (*) can only be found in the Shivering Isles expansion. Players should keep in mind that new ingredient properties are unlocked as they level up their alchemy skill, so common ingredients Venison won't have the Chameleon property until players reach a high enough alchemy level.
How to Create Chameleon Spells in Oblivion Remastered
While players can buy a version of the Chameleon spell in Oblivion Remastered, custom potions can be brewed with even stronger Chameleon effects.
Once a player has reached the expert tier of Illusion, they can create a 100% Chameleon spell that lasts for 15 seconds. Masters of Illusion can create Chameleon spells that have even longer durations as long as they have enough Magicka to cast them. Creating Chameleon spells is a great way to close the gap to 100% Chameleon if players don't have enough enchanted gear.
Chameleon is one of the strongest magical effects in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, so it's understandable why so many players want to max it out. Certain quest lines like The Dark Brotherhood become much easier when players are completely invisible, too.
