Bethesda has already released the first update for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered. The patch was intended to be a small hotfix for Oblivion Remastered, but it seems to be causing bugs for some players on PC.
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered was shadow-dropped earlier this week after months of speculation about the project’s existence. Soon after launch, Oblivion Remastered quickly became a huge hit, peaking at 182,298 players on Steam, an impressive number for a title that has also been available as part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
All Oblivion Remastered Difficulty Levels Explained
There are multiple difficulty levels to choose from in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, but what exactly do they do?
Now, Bethesda has released a small 1.9GB hotfix for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, which seems to have had a poor reception among fans. While Bethesda claims that the update was not intended to impact gameplay, multiple players reported on social media that the hotfix affected their ability to change the game’s upscaling options. Due to the new bug, PC gamers seem to be currently prevented from enabling DLSS upscaling right now. Fortunately, the developers are already aware of the issue and are working to fix it as soon as possible. Bethesda did not reveal official patch notes for this update, though.
Some Gamers Are Having Trouble With Oblivion Remastered's First Patch
While Oblivion Remastered has been a fairly polished experience for most gamers, the title currently has a few issues that will likely be ironed out soon. For example, Kvatch is currently bugged in Oblivion Remastered, which is causing headaches for some gamers. As part of the main quest, some players are stuck in the “The Battle for Castle Kvatch” mission, as Savlian Matius does not react to them killing all the enemies in the courtyard. A workaround has already been found, though, as players can simply kill the foes on the other side of the courtyard, loot the Colovian Signet Ring from Ormellius Goldwine's corpse, and return, which will likely fix the issue.
Another issue that has been annoying players is that some gamers have lost saves from Oblivion Remastered on Xbox Series X/S and PC. Hopefully, future patches will correct these issues, improving the game’s state.
Not everything is bad news for Oblivion fans, though. Oblivion Remastered already has over 200 mods, despite the game not having official mod support. While this will likely not affect console gamers, PC users have plenty of options to choose from, including mods that unlock map markers for the game, add new difficulty options, change the colors of Oblivion Remastered, and much more.
