  • Rumors suggest The Elder Scrolls 6 may be set in Hammerfell, with various evidence and references to back up those rumors.
  • The next trailer needs to address these rumors about the game's setting, regardless of where it takes place.
  • Fans have been eagerly awaiting updates on The Elder Scrolls 6, making a reveal necessary to keep the hype alive.

It has now been over six years since the announcement trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6 debuted, with no other reveals aside from confirmation that Bethesda is indeed working on it. Fans have created their own concept images and trailers, bringing to life personal and corporate theories, but nothing official has been seen since 2018. To be fair, it's probably best that further information about The Elder Scrolls 6 is kept under wraps until its release window draws nearer, as it has the potential to be one of the biggest launches in Bethesda's history. Even so, whenever the next reveal does happen, there are some things it needs to get right.

Rumors and theories have been circulating for many years now about various aspects of The Elder Scrolls 6, and the next trailer should consider this when choosing what to reveal. Fans will undoubtedly be expecting to see glimpses of The Elder Scrolls 6's open world, and potentially even get some details about its story, but it would be nearly impossible to show any of this without either confirming or denying one of the most notorious theories out there that has already proven to carry a lot of weight.

The Next Elder Scrolls 6 Trailer Needs to Confirm or Deny Rumors About Its Setting

Theories and Rumors Suggest The Elder Scrolls 6 Could Be Set in Hammerfell

While there is a large library of rumors that continue to swirl about The Elder Scrolls 6, one of the most prominent theories involves the game's setting. Specifically, the vast majority of The Elder Scrolls community believes the sixth mainline installment in the franchise could be set in Hammerfell, the largest desert in Tamriel and the home of the Redguards. These aren't baseless theories either, as there seems to be plenty of unconfirmed evidence to suggest The Elder Scrolls 6 truly will be set in Hammerfell.

For starters, the terrain shown in The Elder Scrolls 6's announcement trailer matches that of Hammerfell, and one portion of the land is nearly identical to Hammerfell's northern coast. There are also white birds at one point in the trailer, which have only ever appeared in one region apart from Hammerfell. What appears to be Hammerfell's snow-capped Jerall mountains can also be seen in the distance. Furthermore, as if all of that wasn't evidence enough, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim makes plenty of direct and indirect references to Hammerfell and the Redguards throughout its story.

The most significant piece of evidence came from what is believed to be a Bethesda employee's Pinterest board, which, at one point in time, seemed to showcase images of people, places, and things one might find in Hammerfell. On the Pinterest board were Redguard-themed clothes, desert environments, and curved blades. While it hasn't been outright confirmed whether the Pinterest board did indeed belong to a Bethesda employee, the account previously featured a board with Starfield-themed Pins. This, and the fact that the Pinterest account has since been set to private seem to confirm The Elder Scrolls 6's setting.

The Next Elder Scrolls 6 Trailer Needs to Confirm Its Setting, Even if It Isn't Hammerfell

Regardless of whether the rumors and theories about The Elder Scrolls 6's setting are true, the next reveal needs to confirm exactly where the game takes place. Of course, it might be difficult to reveal anything about the game without also disclosing its setting, but it nonetheless needs to be factored into the equation. Hopefully, the world will get more visual updates about The Elder Scrolls 6 soon, if not just to confirm the game's development progress, as this is a game that has been highly anticipated for over a decade and therefore deserves some more attention soon.
