One of the burning questions in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is where to find Mage gear for players who want to go for a full spellcaster build. Cyrodiil is such a big place that it becomes increasingly difficult to keep track of everything from shopkeepers, to places to buy books, spells, and other important Magicka paraphernalia.

Where To Find Mage Equipment In Oblivion Remastered

Unlike most equipment in the game, Mage Robes, Hoods, Staves, and Spellbooks are harder to find, since most of them, like the Robes of Protection are randomized loot from enemies, or are obtained by enchanting Clothing items like the White/Black/Blue Mage Robes.

But, there are a few places where players can get mage gear in Oblivion Remastered, so following up, players will find the information about each of these vendors summarized to make it easier for them to become the perfect mages in Cyrodiil.

Where To Buy Mage Robes & Hoods

As mentioned before, Robes and Hoods, which have enchanted properties and are useful for mages to carry, are extremely hard to come by. But players can create their own Mage Hoods and Robes by purchasing regular robes from some of the following vendors, and then enchanting each separate piece of gear using Sigil Stones (Obtained by closing Oblivion Gates):

  • Rindir (at Rindir's Staffs - Imperial City Market District) sells robes, hoods, and the powerful Apotheosis Staff.
  • Mages Guild vendors (Anvil, Bruma, Cheydinhall, etc).
  • Palonirya (Divine Elegance, Imperial City Market District).

Players can also get a full set of Mage Robes by completing the Mages Guild quest to access the Arcane University. If they keep raking up by completing quests, they will also be able to attain Arch-Mage Rank, which will grant them access to the Arch Mage robe set.

It is highly recommended that players pick regular clothing and enchant it using Enchanting Table/Sigil Stone to create the perfect Mage attire for their characters. Some recommended Enchantments include: Magicka Regeneration, Shield, or Elemental Shield.

Where To Buy Spells

To buy spells for the different schools of Magic, players should head to either the Mages Guild, or any of the Spell vendors located in the merchant districts of important cities. Some good places to start include:

  • Delphin Jend (Bravil Mages Guild): Sells most types of spells.
  • Selena Orania (Bruma Mages Guild): Sells most types of spells.
  • Edgar Vautrine (Edgar's Discount Spells - Imperial City Market District): Sells most types of spells at a lower price, though his supply is not as good as the other vendors.

Where To Buy Staffs

Staffs, alongside enchanted robes, are some of the most difficult items to obtain in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. These offer a good way for mages to save precious Magicka while fighting a prolonged battle. So getting themselves a staff is the best investment mage players can make in Oblivion Remastered.

There are a few places to purchase staffs in the game, but this shortlist will ensure players have it easy finding the best equipment at the best prices:

  • Rindir (at Rindir's Staffs - Imperial City Market District): His inventory changes every 7 days, so keep a close eye on his stock.
  • Calindil (Mystic Emporium - Imperial City Market District): He has a few intermediate spell staffs, but his prices are a little bit higher than Rindir's since he has a higher Mercantile skill.

Where To Buy Alchemy Ingredients & Potions

When looking for alchemical items, reagents, potions, and all things related to Alchemy in Oblivion Remastered, Sinderion is the answer. He has a low Merchantile skill, so his prices are far better than any other alchemy supplier (that means he sells cheap and pays a lot). Players can find Sinderion in the cellar of the West Weald Inn in Skingrad.

Players can easily locate him by following the Seeking Your Roots quest, which consists of finding out the purpose of Nirnroot and gather an enormous amount of them.

Where To Buy Magetallow Candles

Magetallow candles are a critical ingredient for Spellcrafting and Enchanting, and they can be bought from Aurelinwae, who runs the Mystic Emporium at the Imperial City Market District, alongside Calindil.

These items are a little bit pricey, but the end result will be totally worth it, since the player will gain access to two of the best features for a mage in Oblivion Remastered. Besides, they can also buy improvements for their own mage tower (Frostcrag Spire) from her.

Where To Buy Soul Gems

Soul Gems can be purchased from most of the vendors in Cyrodiil, but players will have better luck finding them from enemies (especially Daedra, Vampires, Necromancers, and Conjurers), and from certain specialized vendors like the ones found at the Mages Guild.

From all the previously mentioned vendors, Rindir has the best prices, so it would be best to purchase them from him. Like any loot in the game, it levels with players, so the more they level up, the better gear will be sold at the vendors (with the exception os special enchanted gear), so keep that in mind. The same happens with soul gems, starting at Petty, and Lesser, and going for Common, Greater, and Grand as they reach higher levels (10-30).
