Twitch streamer Emily "Emiru" Schunk was recently named co-owner of entertainment company One True King (OTK). She joined OTK a year ago, and has worked with other prominent streamers like Mizkif, Asmongold, and Esfand.
Known for her League of Legends streams, Emiru has gained over 1.1 million Twitch followers and over 500,000 subscribers on YouTube. Since joining OTK, she's had memorable moments, like creating funny videos, talking about getting pulled over by police with Mizkif, and addressing some of the controversies surrounding the company.
During the recent OTK Shareholders Meeting stream on Twitch, it was announced that Emiru would be the new co-owner of the company through a fantasy-inspired video where the streamer played a princess who defeated her foes, played by other OTK members, to retrieve her crown. After the video showcase, Emiru came out to thank everyone and expressed her excitement on her new role.
Shortly after, Emiru did a funny presentation on how her co-members can improve as streamers and human beings, which viewers compared to a Steve Jobs presentation. She also revealed that she would be hosting a competition called Cosplay Clash coming this June, which will feature 20 cosplayers around the world who will be tasked to put streamers in cosplay. She said the goal is to elevate the art of cosplaying, as well as give Twitch viewers a chance to see their favorites dressed up.
Many OTK fans congratulated Emiru on the promotion, saying that she's come so far from being a humble streamer to helping lead a big company. Some also noted that this was a smart move for OTK because they believe she will bring something new and better to the company. Back in December, Emiru promised her viewers that there would be changes in OTK and that "things are going to get better." Although she didn't provide any details back then, it's possible that she was already hinting at becoming co-owner.
OTK has had a streak of controversies in the past few months involving Mizkif and former member Rich Campbell. The former is currently on probation after being suspended for allegedly covering up a sexual assault, while Campbell resigned from OTK after being accused of sexually assaulting another streamer. These took a toll on the company as most of the OTK streamers are friends, with Emiru being one of the more vocal streamers when it came to addressing these issues. Now that she's taking on a bigger role in OTK, she could use her influence to help prevent other controversies like these in the future.
