The Soulslike genre has been rife with great games in recent years. Players are still riding the highs brought on by epic adventures like Elden Ring, Remnant 2, and more recently, Lies of P. Now a new studio is entering the Soulslike genre with their own anticipated release, Enotria: The Last Song, an expansive and detailed journey inspired by Italian Folklore. At first glance, the upcoming release from Italy-based Jyamma Games looks like a truly robust and creativity-driven Soulslike, which players will have an opportunity to try for themselves thanks to a lengthy and impressively in-depth demo.

Soulslike fans hungry to dive into the world of Enotria: The Last Song will have the opportunity to play through an extensive demo starting on May 22nd, 2024 (and running until July 30th, 2024). The demo will be released on both PS5 and PC via the Steam and Epic Games Store platforms. Players can expect to spend a considerable amount of time navigating Quinta, the City of Actors, as they are given an extended overview of Enotria’s expansive gameplay elements across a demo that developers state will last upwards of 8 hours (for those interested in seeing and experiencing all there is hidden throughout the micro-journey).

A Soulslike That Rewards Creativity And Skill

Enotria: The Last Song promises to be the perfect blend of “new and old,” meshing together classic elements from the Soulslike genre with new and innovative ideas that will help the release carve its own path through the rapidly expanding category. Players looking for a core combat-driven experience that “looks and feels” like a Soulslike game will be right at home with Enotria’s punishing yet rewarding gameplay mechanics that reward both skill and creativity. Jyamma Games has gone to great lengths to craft an experience that is truly customizable for players, giving them the necessary tools and weapons to create their own builds that align well with their own unique playstyle.

The demo will feature four different types of weapon classes, each with its own collection of weapons for players to try. In total, there will be 22 weapons to try throughout the Demo, along with 18 Lines (which are akin to Spells or Skills). Players will also have access to 6 different Masks, which will not only change their appearance but can also alter their playstyle and abilities. There are three different Gems to collect, which will change how players use the detailed “Parry” system, as well as 32 Perks to try out. Players will also gain access to 7 different Aspects, which act as equipable stat changers that can help players greatly alter a given build without having to change their stat allocations.

A Soulslike Experience That Offers Instant Build-Swapping

One of the things that helps set Enotria: The Last Song apart from other Souslike games is the nifty ability for players to swap seamlessly between multiple builds even during combat. Players will be able to create, customize, and save up to three separate builds (complete with their own unique weapons, Lines, and Aspects), which they can then hot-swap to whenever they like. This promises to greatly enhance the creativity that players will have when adventuring through Enotria: The Last Song, giving them true freedom to play and experience the unique Soulslike as they see fit.

An Extensive Demo That Showcases An Abundance Of Enemies

The approximately 8-hour demo will stretch throughout Quinta, the City of Actors, with players controlling a mysterious character known as The Mask of Change. During their adventure, players will clash with 27 different types of enemies, including some powerful foes known as Variants, which will carry altered movesets and powerful weapons. Players will also contend with 2 Minibosses and one Main Boss during their demo adventure.

Jyamma Games promises that combat and gameplay are the main elements that drive the beautiful adventure but note that story and quest elements are still an important part of the journey. Each of the weapons, enemies, masks, bosses, and NPCs sprinkled throughout the world of Enotria: The Last Song are inspired by Italian Folklore, and history buffs should have a Field Day recognizing all of the historical nods and references sprinkled throughout the meticulously crafted release.
