Enshrouded has recently teased its next update, titled Wake of the Water, with a trailer during Gamescom 2025. Enshrouded’s new update is set to release in October 2025, and it looks great in the new trailer.
Published and developed by Keen Games, Enshrouded was released in early access in January 2024, and it became a popular survival game with RPG elements since then. In Enshrouded, gamers can play on servers that support up to 16 people in the lands of Embervale, an open world that can be freely explored by players. While exploring, Enshrouded players can build bases, craft new items, fight monsters, and try to survive against hunger and thirst. Keen Games has already announced that Enshrouded will reach its 1.0 version in 2026, and it has been putting out regular updates since then.

Enshrouded Reveals Wake of the Water Update for October 2025
Now, Enshrouded has announced its October 2025 update called Wake of the Water during Gamescom 2025. While no patch notes for the update were unveiled during the event, it’s clear that the upcoming changes will be all about water, adding physics to liquid areas in Enshrouded. Gamers will be able to swim around in large bodies of water, possibly fighting underwater, and even potentially using it to their advantage. It’s possible to see a player breaking a wall and flooding a room in the trailer, for example, which could lead to interesting outcomes if added to the game.
Overall, it’s not entirely surprising to see water physics coming to Enshrouded. Last year, Keen Games commented on the future plans for Enshrouded, saying that many of the game’s features had not reached their full potential at the time and that the team planned to add more interactive elements soon. When describing these interactive elements, a developer cited “water, traps, moving things, and new ways for traversal.”
Such major changes, like the ones being teased by Wake of the Water’s trailer, could also make Enshrouded really popular with players again. Enshrouded had a peak player count of over 160,000 gamers on Steam soon after its release, a number which greatly decreased in a few days. In November 2024, Enshrouded peaked at over 40,000 simultaneous players, still way below the release, so it remains to be seen if the next update will be even more successful.
In any case, this upcoming update is a major stepping stone towards Enshrouded’s 1.0 release in 2026. Hopefully, the developers at Keen Games will continue to polish the popular survival title while adding more interesting content in the coming months.
