Offering 1–3 free games every week since December 2018, the Epic Games Store has certainly delivered its fair share of variety over the years. As well as running the gamut between huge AAA releases and small indie games, the Epic Games Store's free weekly games have dabbled in just about every gaming genre there is, from first-person shooters to Metroidvanias and a whole lot in between.

With such an eclectic mix usually on offer, it's rare that the Epic Games Store's free games manage to tap into gaming's hottest genres. But on November 13, 2025, the Epic Games Store is presenting players with a handful of free titles that channel some of 2025's strongest and most popular genres.

Epic Games Store Free Game for November 13: ScourgeBringer

An Action Roguelite That Taps Into Hades 2's Action and Hollow Knight: Silksong's Platforming

  • Released in October 2020
  • Developed by Flying Oak Games and E-Studio
  • Retail price $16.99
  • Fast-paced action roguelite platformer
  • Soundtrack by Joonas Turner

The first of the Epic Game Store's November 13 free games, ScourgeBringer originally released back in October 2020, where it was met with very positive reviews that compared it favorably to both Dead Cells and Celeste. Five years later, ScourgeBringer is more relevant to the gaming zeitgeist than ever, with its fast-paced action roguelite platformer gameplay feeling reminiscent of some of 2025's most popular indie games.

With its fast-paced action combat that encourages players to relentlessly attack their enemies to prevail, ScourgeBringer channels the frenetic energy of Hades 2. And with its careful 2D platforming mechanics and grand levels, ScourgeBringer might remind players of Hollow Knight: Silksong. Of course, ScourgeBringer also has plenty of unique qualities that set it apart from these beloved 2025 indies, such as its vibrant retro art style and its Dead Cells-inspired upgrade system.

Epic Games Store Free Game for November 13: Zero Hour

A Tactical Shooter That Taps Into Battlefield 6 and Ready or Not's Realism

  • Released in September 2024
  • Developed by AttritoM7 Productions
  • Retail price: $9.99
  • A tactical FPS with a focus on realism
  • Can team up with 9 online players for co-op or play solo with AI teammates
  • Has a Rainbow Six Siege-like 5v5 PvP mode
  • 18 maps
  • 23 weapons to customize

2025 has seen the gradual rise of realistic first-person shooters. Ready or Not came to Xbox and PlayStation earlier this year, and though it's far from the most realistic shooter out there, Battlefield 6 finally returned the franchise to its more grounded roots and introduced a new generation of gamers to more squad-focused gameplay. The second Epic Games Store free game for November 13, Zero Hour, taps into this growing genre.

Released in September 2024, Zero Hour offers two core modes. The first sees players teaming up with nine online players or nine AI teammates to complete a series of co-op story-based missions. The second mode sees two teams of five duke it out in Rainbow Six Siege-like PvP game types, such as bomb defusal and hostage rescue. In both core modes, Zero Hour's moment-to-moment gameplay puts a focus on slow-paced, methodical tactical FPS action where weapon loadouts and every single movement and gunshot matters.
