Summary
- The Epic Games Store will be giving away two mystery games on May 15.
- Touch Type Tale and Deadtime Defenders are available to claim in the meantime.
The Epic Games Store's free games for May 15 won't be announced in advance. Instead, Epic Games Store users have two mystery games to look forward to next week.
Over the week-long period ending earlier today, May 8, Epic Games Store users were able to claim Super Space Club, a futuristic bullet hell game. That offer expired at 8am PT / 11am ET / 5pm CET, when it was replaced with two new free games in the form of Touch Type Tale and Deadtime Defenders.
Epic Games Store: A Comprehensive List Of Every Free Game It's Had To Date
Here's a list of all the games that have been made free on the Epic Games Store. You have until January 29 to get the current free game.
Now that this week's freebies are live, Epic also shared the first details about its May 15 giveaway, which will include two titles. Neither of them will be announced in advance, as the digital storefront is returning to its sporadically used mystery game format for next week's giveaway. The latest Epic Games Store mystery game was Cat Quest 2, which PC gamers were able to claim between April 3 and April 10.
Epic Games Store Free Games Right Now
- Touch Type Tale (May 8 – May 15)
- Deadtime Defenders (May 8 – May 15)
- Mystery Game 1 (May 15 – May 22)
- Mystery Game 2 (May 15 – May 22)
While waiting for next week's freebies, Epic Games Store users can claim Deadtime Defenders and Touch Type Tale. The former is a side-scrolling looter shooter with RPG elements and a futuristic setting, tasking players with defending humanity from a wide variety of monstrosities emerging from a mysterious portal to an alternate dimension. Meanwhile, Touch Type Tale is a real-time strategy game with a unique control system that has players construct and command their armies by typing commands. It expands on this mechanic through various mini-games and offers native support for the "Twitch Chat Plays" streaming format, allowing Twitch viewers to control the game.
While Epic doesn't usually spoil its mystery game promotions, it occasionally offers hints to help fans deduce them. For instance, the company recently teased the Epic Games Store's March 27 freebies as being cat-themed. Those two titles were later revealed to be Cat Quest and Neko Ghost, Jump. After a similar teaser was shared for the April 3 freebie, some fans correctly identified it as Cat Quest 2. If Epic is planning to continue this pattern with its next giveaway, then some hints about its contents might arrive in the coming days, possibly on or around May 11.
Given how the May 15 giveaway is already confirmed to include two mystery games, the chances of any additional surprises for next week appear slim. As per usual, the upcoming freebies will become available to claim at 8am PT / 11am ET / 4pm CET.
