Between August 28 and September 4, Epic Games Store users were able to claim Make Way and Machinarium. The summer promotion now came to an end, with Epic previously saying it would make way for its free offers of The Battle of Polytopia and Monument Valley.

The Epic Games Store's September 4 giveaway officially kicked off moments ago, but it surprisingly does not include The Battle of Polytopia, which has apparently been moved up by a week. It is now listed as being free from September 11 and September 18, alongside two other titles: Ghostrunner 2 and Monument Valley 2. The rescheduling of The Battle of Polytopia giveaway is highly atypical, to the point that the move may be a mistake.

Developed by Polish studio One More Level, Ghostrunner 2 is a hardcore first-person shooter that's all about speed and precision, emphasizing one-hit-kill swordplay while simultaneously encouraging players never to stop moving. The hectic gameplay stemming from this formula resonated with reviewers, as underlined by the game's "Strong" rating on OpenCritic, with an average score of 79 and an 81% reviewer recommendation rate. Apart from its gameplay qualities, Ghostrunner 2 was also praised for its story, which fully embraces the cyberpunk themes that the first game flirted with.
Ghostrunner 2 expands on its predecessor with several additions, including a grappling hook and a Sensory Boost ability that slows time midair. One More Level went to great lengths to explore both of these options, consequently adding significant depth to the gameplay experience on offer. Other novelties include vehicular combat, most notably thrilling motorcycle segments, and more open level design that encourages players to plan routes through dangerous environments.
While Monument Valley 2 was never before free on the Epic Games Store, Ghostrunner 2 did get featured in one small giveaway at the tail end of 2024, as part of the storefront's Christmas promotion. As it was only available to claim for 24 hours, the upcoming giveaway is likely to be a new opportunity for many Epic Games Store users.
