Escape from Tarkov is coming to consoles, Battlestate Games has announced. The developer also revealed the theme of Escape from Tarkov's first post-launch DLC and talked about its future plans for the IP, which include new games.
In April 2025, Battlestate Chief Operating Officer Nikita Buyanov said Escape from Tarkov wouldn't come to consoles before it's ported to the Game Boy. The cheeky remark was widely interpreted as the executive dismissing the possibility of a console port. However, it now appears that the statement was (even) less serious than fans originally thought.
Escape From Tarkov Reveals When Softcore Changes Are Coming
Escape From Tarkov announces 'softcore changes' coming to the game very soon.
Escape from Tarkov Coming to Consoles After All
In a newly published aftermovie recapping Battlestate's Tokyo Game Show 2025 presence, Buyanov revealed that Escape from Tarkov will be coming to consoles after all. This tidbit was shared in passing, with the COO not elaborating on the matter any further. No specific platforms were mentioned, but if the console version is planned to arrive in the near future, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S are both likely candidates to receive it. While the announcement contradicts Buyanov’s recent Game Boy remarks, it aligns with a 2020 statement from former Battlestate developer Pavel Dyatlov, who previously indicated that a console port of Escape from Tarkov was under consideration.
Escape from Tarkov's First Post-Launch DLC Will Focus on Scav Life
The TGS 2025 recap video also saw the Battlestate COO reveal the name of the extraction shooter's first post-launch DLC: Scav Life. The moniker essentially confirms that the add-on will be focused on one of the game's six factions. With Escape from Tarkov scheduled for a November 15 release and Buyanov confirming work on the DLC won't fully begin beforehand, Scav Life seems unlikely to debut before the second half of 2026 at the very earliest.
New Games from Escape from Tarkov Universe Are Also in the Works
In the meantime, Battlestate is planning "a couple of huge events" coming right after the 1.0 launch, the COO said. A new location is also in development, along with multiple other games set in the Escape from Tarkov universe. As the extraction shooter prepares to exit beta after more than eight years, these upcoming titles are expected to be spin-offs rather than direct sequels, with Battlestate aiming for Escape from Tarkov to remain active for years to come. The new games are currently in pre-production, Buyanov said, indicating they are unlikely to be released for years.
Escape from Tarkov will arrive on Steam alongside its 1.0 launch. Its console versions do not yet have a release date or window.
