While Ethan Hawke is having a bit of a career resurgence these days, he's still not slated to appear in any future Star Wars film, much to his chagrin. While the man who is known to Disney Plus watchers as the latest Marvel villain in Moon Knight hasn't heard anything from Lucasfilms yet, Hawke still has hope that he can one day join an adventure in a galaxy far, far away.

Hawke had, at one time, made a very public plea to join the Star Wars franchise. He made no bones about his desire four years ago to take up a blaster or a lightsaber. However, despite also making it clear that he had no problem fighting for either the dark or the light side of the force, he still hasn't gotten the call he desperately wants. But he also hasn't given up hope that it could simply be because the producers and directors simply haven't found the right part for the actor.

Hawke spoke to Screen Rant in a recent interview where he made it very clear that while he's had success with Moon Knight, he wants more. During the interview, the actor said that he makes himself feel better by imagining that Lucasfilm has a really special part for him. He added that if that isn't true and his pleas to join Star Wars are just being ignored, then it must mean that "someone up there" doesn't like him.

When he was told by the interviewer that they think it's more likely that Lucasfilms just doesn't want to waste Hawke. The actor then noted that he agreed and hoped that was the issue. Perhaps as a way to demonstrate that he's really a fan of the Star Wars series, he then made it clear that he's been really enjoying the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney Plus.

While he might still be looking to hang out with Wookies and Ewoks and the Jedi and the Sith, Hawke is having plenty of success beyond what he's already seen in Moon Knight this year. The veteran actor has a horror film that will allow him to tread where he really hasn't much before now. Hawke plays an unabashed serial killer who tends to target children in The Black Phone.

Far from the science-based fiction of Star Wars, The Black Phone includes a supernatural aspect to its story. When Hawke's killer takes his latest victim, the child soon realizes that a phone in his cell that isn't hooked up gives him a direct line to former victims, who are out for revenge.

The Star Wars saga is now available on Disney Plus.
